We are looking to sign (well, initially get them on prolonged trial) two more kids from the Africa Foot academy we have a partnership with.

1. Aboubacar Maiga. Newcastle and other PL teams reportedly after him too but he's apparently a big Barca fan

Bit strange they call him the Malian Messi here but in the Sport article they describe him more as #4

Aboubacar Maiga is the player who would best fit Barça right now. He's a highly technical, organizing midfielder with exceptional skills for African football. He's a creative player with great vision and could adapt to the highly-developed number 4 position in Barcelona's youth system. Barça's coaches have been monitoring his development for months and are convinced he could be a very interesting player.

2. Moustapha Traoré

Moustapha Traoré is a very fast winger with excellent one-on-one skills and a good crosser. The academy coaches praise his technical ability and progress, although he could use some improvement in his goalscoring stats. A powerful and skillful player similar to Ibrahim Diarra, who has made such a positive impression on the Blaugrana club in the months since he was signed.

Moustapha Traoré (15) 🇲🇱

Let's learn more about him!

Citizenship: 🇲🇱
Club: Academie Africa Foot
Position: LW-RW
Foot: Left
Height: 1.74m

Strengths: dribbling, ball control, vision, technique, flair, agility, first touch, finishing, pace, acceleration, bravery, athleticism, physicality

💎 Potential Rating: 9.3/10

Similar Players: Mohammed Kudus 🇬🇭

Maiga looks good in the highlights I saw.

Haven't watched the other guy.

Don Juan Laporta Estruch

Basta yaaaaaaa, Cabron ! y Bona nit 🥂
The player we should be signing is a player by the name of Giovanni Leoni. Parma left sided centre back, who is 1.95m. Right footed and 18 year old.

Very very highly rated. Tall and gangly in the mould of Scalvini, who was also highly rated a few years ago. Probably out of our price range given Liverpool are close to getting him though, but if we could find a spare 25m somewhere down the sofa, he should be the guy to spend it on.

We don't sign many Italian players do we? Who was the last one? It's interesting because so many Italians live in Barcelona. You'd think we'd look closer there.

What about that Kospo guy at Fiorentina

I think he should have been given a chance (or Cuenca) in pre-season considering Martini got minutes at LCB and we all know he is a Hansi's dear in headlights.

But to be honest, I don't think he has a high ceiling despite a solid U19A season.

Zambrotta was really underrated here IMHO, he was very solid on either flanks, but he came with super hype after the World Cup and just being solid wasn't enough.
Both him and his wife were home sick, and according to him leaving was by his own request rather than the club pushing him out. I liked Coco too for a cheap loan but that was ages ago, Albertini was totally finished when he joined.
Those, along Motta, were the only Italian in Barca according to TransferMarket, along some Barca B kid who got a game here.
Very small sample size that isn't actually bad, but OTOH, Italians didn't have that big of a success in Laliga in general, and even outside Calcio they were fairly limited in success.

Same for Liverpool btw, their list of Italian players are grim

Orlandi can be considered half Catalan, he was born in Barcelona.

Based on his full name (Andrea Orlandi Stabilin) I assume both parents are Italian though.

There have only been a handful of Italians that would've improved our XI in last 10-15 years, like Buffon, Pirlo and Chiellini which wouldn't be worth getting due to age. Verratti probably the only signing we've properly missed out on, and even then maybe we dodged a bullet with his injuries. Otherwise there aren't any players that we could/should have realistically signed.

Today probably only Bastoni and Barella are good enough for the XI, and even then Barella wouldn't be that much of an upgrade for that price.
