What should the club prioritize

It's insane how much money teams can spend and Liverpool shouldn't be talking about city with all this spending.

I think we can spend 80-100m this off season and maybe more if we have a big sale, which we never have.

GK
LW
And back up to LB seems to be the priority.

Which is 3/5 position I think we should cover in an ideal world.

Those e signings should be enough, we have masia other clubs don't that's the difference

It certainly feels like the rest of the clubs will catch-up with their spending.

Madrid will certainly be closer, with my fear being that it we are both level, the refereeing will influence LaLiga in their hands.

With that said, everything I said the board will know twice over.

We are getting a LW. It will be Diaz or Nico. So hopefully this quality jump is enough. As always our success will be decided by the growth of the LaMasia talents.

Who do with think will surprise from Masia next season? Based on who flick seems likely to call up for preseason?.

Diarra
Toni
Torrents
Landry.

Or will Guille put it together and show why he had all that hype?.

Fermin. As starter over Olmo.

I don't see anyone breaking through majorly this season. I'm more inclined to hoping for immense progression in Fermin, Cubarsi and Lamine than anyone getting into the 11.

Out of the names listed, maybe Torrents could have a breakthrough if Balde has a long term injury though.

As for a surprise? Out of all those I'd go with Diarra. His game is built for first team teammates. Just whether Flick likes it.

Yourself?

I didn't mean so much as a starter, but I get your point, fermin could push olmo out, but that's a masia for masia and both are first team players.

As for who I think could make the step up, I'm getting good vibes from Landry, flick calling him up consistently since he became manager to train with the first team whenever possible can't be a coincidence.

Torrents has a higher ceiling so he could leap everyone and he's build like a man at 18, so the adjustment physically won't be hard, it's just a matter of developing his game.

I agree with you about Diarra.

But I also think all 3 i mentioned will look significantly better playing with the first team than they do now.

Which has been a running theme with the kids we've promoted recently, they all seem to jump up in level with the promotion to senior football almost instantly.

Guys, why don't you think we need a CB/LCB?

For me, it comes before us spending 60m on an LW.

One will help, but we have a much bigger need for a winger because if one of yamal or raphinha goes down we are screwed.

At CB we have

Cubarsi
Martinez
Christensen
Araujo
Garcia
Kounde.

Who could all play well there at the very least at La Liga level.

So the only way we sign a CB is if one leaves.

CB and striker is for next summer.

A great starting CB improves our starting XI the most, no doubt.

But attack depth is also a problem, Ferran is the only backup worth anything.

We have "numbers" when it comes to CB, and if the club doesn't believe they can get a CB that imoroves us,then addressing other needs is the right thing

A mobile 9 will improve our XI more than any CB.

Unlimited money and you can sign Isak or VVD or whomever is younger but considered as good

The club will rightly sign Isak every time, a mobile 9 will take this team to a new level and a different DM but that's a conversation for another Day.

Which is why next summer if/when we have cash they will move for a 9 first.

We will only ever sign a CB if one leaves, because no can name 5 teams in Europe with a better set of CBs than we have.

They all go 2 or 3 deep, we legitimately have 4 CBs that are starting level in La Liga and that's the base for every team the domestic league

How are you so confident about CB position I don't know

Cubarsi - Phenomenal, but 17 years old and lacks physicality. But okay, I think we can go with him starting.

Inigo - Very old. Chances he repeats this season next year are very small. He is slow and weak for the biggest games.

Araujo - I guess he is the one you trust. Continuously proves year after year he is not starter level for a big club. Gets exposed with his horrible passing and football iq against every top team. With injuries even his biggest (only) quality, physicality, has significantly weakened.

Christensen - Top top defender, really good but nobody can guarantee him staying fit as he was injuried whole of last season

Eric Garcia - no discussion needed, I hope

am I wrong in the assessment of someone?

No. You're not wrong.

But apparently it's Flick's fault Araujo fucked up. Probably was his fault when Araujo fucked up under Xavi too.

The same way it was Flick's fault the players didnt waste time at the end of regular time.

Too funny.

Because not many teams in Europe have 4 better defenders, as I've said before

Cubarsi best young defender on the planet, top class defender regardless, he will lose two years of development if all he does is keep a high line but that's a story for another Day.

Martinez proven Class defender in la Liga for years.

Christensen class defender when fit.

Araujo very good defender, one high profile mistake ( last year red card, because this season it's more a system failure, even though he should have done better 70% system, 30% him) but that doesn't change the fact that he can defend with the best of them.

Garcia serviceable against lower la Liga teams.

If we have a crisis of injuries at CB, kounde can step in and play at a high level.

Am I missing anything?.

Why would we waste money on that position right now unless someone leaves.

If we play the CL final tomorrow, I just like flick, would feel comfortable starting any combination of those 4.

PSG just won the CL playing two CBs, one was a laughing stock on here for years and pacho is no better than any defender we have, he just plays in a system that doesn't leave him exposed.

If memory serves me right city won the CL playing ake or Akanji.

Liverpool have probably the best CB partnership in Europe, what did that get them in the CL?

What the hell people keep talking about with CBs I will never know.

We have 4 highly capable CBs that only a handful of CBs can improve on.
