The main reason we are signing winger (afaik) is because we look a completely different team when Lamine is not on the pitch
Massive decline in creativity. I don't know how many goals we scored in games he didn't play but I remember we weren't that good in any of those
Perisic won't address this issue. Sure he will work his ass off and give it all for the team, maybe provide much needed experience and some rest for key players in multiple positions. But he likely won't make any difference from the bench when Lamine or Rapha are absent or subbed off, which is really what we were looking for in the first place
But I'm not against his signing. If Flick thinks it's a good idea then no problem. But then they gotta use the funds to spend somewhere else because we basically don't spend anything on Perisic

I would get Perisic but also Diaz or some other winger.
So we are covered in attack were every player has sub.
Rapinha/Diaz, Lewa/Ferran, Lamine/Perisic.
Ofc Perisic is LW.
Going from Fati and Pau to Diaz and Perisic is galaxy upgrade.
Season is really long with shorter time because of WC.
There will be a lot of middle week stupid CDR games and lower league teams which this subs can demolish.
This is not overkill.

We will need to play one of the midfielders (Fermin, Gavi) as LW at times. There are simply to many midfielders with Bernal returning and few guys from B team knocking (Diarra, Hernandez).
Curious how Flick will fit them. Maybe false 9 will need to re-enter the mix.

I think Stegen will stay put because he is a stubborn bitch.
No worries, he will see only the bench and the stands
As for LW, realistically we can only get Rashford of the available/rumored options
Then, I hope we get Grimaldo and loan Martin.
Last, I still think we need a left-footed Lamine sub that has similar profile. Perisic is great depth, but I would go for Chukweze from Milan: only 10m price, LL experience, stylistically similar to Lamine, he can be great LL rotation option

Almeria staying in Segunda for another season, should be even cheaper now. Wouldn't mind getting him.

I don't know why we aren't looking at Jose Gaya?
Proven, Old enough that he won't hamper Torrents' development. Not as high profile as Grimaldo, so he wouldn't mind a backup role. And cheap.
Grimaldo would want to start, which might create friction in the team.

We've been linked with him his whole career. He doesn't want to come, let him be a Valencia legend.
Hope the rumor about Grimaldo's clause is real, he would be perfect.

I read somewhere that he is open to leaving this season. But maybe I am wrong.
And I would love Grimaldo too, but I am not sure he really would cost 15-20m it just doesn't make sense. On top don't think we can keep both Balde and Grimaldo happy with their playing time.
I am happy to be wrong on both of these. Anyone in their right mind would take Grimaldo over most LB available.

Neither is some superstar that should have his place guaranteed. Let them fight it out, this is Barca, we need competition, they could also get minutes on other positions. Balde looked good at RB a couple of time, both can cover LW in some cases, Grimaldo in midfield... Of course if the rumors about the clause are true, I would pay 30+ mil for him.

Maybe they approached the club for a discussion. And the inside sources might have leaked this to the press.
