I make perfect sense, we don't need defenders, we need to be more pragmatic from winning positions.

Even more reason to clear bad CBs when you have a manager like Flick that puts those bad CBs under more pressure than usual. When all is said and done, we have a rookie CB in Cubarsi who is nowhere near ready to start games for us at this level, Inigo who never played at this level, and Araujo who did dumb shit before under another manager.

So... it's not only Flick that is causing these players to make errors. It's also their insufficient quality. But now Inigo is good enough for CL final after not even playing a CL group game in his career until 33-34. Man debuted in CL this season at near retirement age.

1) make adjustments to the system, manage the game more appropriately if these situations should arise again, knowing fully well you can out score most teams.

2) throw out your two starting CBs and spend upwards of at least 120m to replace them with two starting CBs.

I'm assuming we have the money and can easily buy and register these players.

If no one leaves and Partey signs then he's only going to take minutes away from Gavi, Bernal, Casado which is not ideal. It's not like Partey is some incredible midfielder either. Almost 32, struggled vs PSG and will fuck off to AFCON in the middle of the season.

Midfielder is the last thing we need right now. Even on a free transfer. Especially for a 32 year old CDM.
Only way we should even consider signing a midfielder is if someone like Rodri was available. Basically an elite player and starter.

The difference between us and PSG is the entire backline and GK.

We're not gonna get Hakimi and Nuno level players on the market and Balde and Kounde is probably the best we gonna get for starting players but we absolutely need backups for these two otherwise we are gonna be screwed. Martin needs to go on and we don't need anymore teens in this team like that Torrents kid.

We also don't have a CB who can play Flick's highline football.
-Inigo is good but lacks pace and strength and is getting older. Should keep him as a rotational option.
-Cubarsi is good but still makes a lot of errors and needs to develop more. I'd have him as a starter but with a experiences athletic technical CB capable of playing Flick's highline football.
-Christensen can't be relied on to be fit an entire season. Still would keep him though.
-Araujo is just hopeless and will never be an intelligent or technical defender. Don't even know why we are keeping him. Barca needs ball playing CBs and this guy is probably the most anti ball playing CB in football.

Joan Garcia as GK is definitely a step in the right direction though.
