On another note, we are now being linked with Igor Paixao from Feyenoord. A more direct winger for those who are saying that's what they primarily want.

M.Moretto is saying both Flick and Deco wants Rashford.

I really hope Moretto lost credibility because his latest news are annoying.

For a club that has played best football in the world this season and came close to all possible trophies we certainly have been linked with some unworthy names.

Deco and co. have a lot to do to come close to matching Flick's work.

Not convinced with these extensions being called "signings" by same Deco either. He basically taps himself on the back.

tbf, SD job isn't just transfers, it is only part of the job. Renewals is another part and he was dealt with a team that had were almost entirely expiring in 2026 or 2027 (big mistake from Alemany).

I mentioned it in the "squad" thread but look at the amount of players renewed or we have to renew, within this season alone. Araujo, Martin, Gavi, Pedri, Fermin, Raphinha, Lamine already done, along Inigo and Lewa +1 extension and it's registration, and we agreed deals with Casado & Bernal and reportedly now Szczesny. That's 12 players negotiated already. Then you have Eric, Fort, Christensen, Frenki having only 1 year left in contract and negotiating new one, and same for Kounde and Torres who have contracts until 2027. That's 18 players right there. That's not normal, and dare I say unprecedented.

By the end of the summer transfer market, there is a good chance that only Ter Stegen and Balde will be the players in the squad that didn't sign their last contracts with us before August 2024

Obviously, he still needs fo make the right signings, by I can understand why he is taking pride in those renewals.

I give some credit to Deco for renewals, it kinda went smoothly even though that's more on the players who wanted to stay.

The transfer on the other hand... Well, there wasn't any except Olmo and the rumors about Trashford and Diaz are not giving me hope, the same with MATS continuing being first choice.

I agree the market for wingers is dry. That's why I would go for a cheap loan option for someone like Zaragoza (or Doku if City is open to it?) or a young prospect with big potential but for that you need a good sporting department that will find a talent like that.

We are in a situation where we need to carefully pick the players for the future with the current young core in mind, not just signing anybody just to put a body in the team. Wait for the right players that complement Pedri, Yamal etc.

Rashford is right now probably the most affordable winger who despite his weaknesses, is still considered high tier. If the club won't have the budget for a better winger, it's always good to have a plan B or C. Loaning him out for a year to give Rapha/Lamine more rest wouldn't be the worst transfer, as long as it stays a loan.

An ideal window, for me:

Garcia - 25M
Nico - 57M
Rashford - Loan
Ratiu -8-10M
1st. I dont think Nico would come this year. They have UCL football after a long time, a semi-successful season. I think he will stay this year, and then look for a move next year. And I am ok with that.
2nd. Why would you want to have both Rashford and Nico in the team. We need a cover for Raph, having 1 LW is all we need.
3rd. I would rather spend on a LB than a RB. Eric is doing fantastic, and we can use Casado there if needed.
What we dont have is a solid LB.

What do you guys think
Swapping Araujo to Yildiz or to Barcola. For Barcola we should even pay more Psg because he is expensive.
I Think in Yildiz & Barcola is less financial risk even if they fail.
I don't mind Luiz Diaz be he is 28 is not an investment for the future.
