Fair play to you. You have been nice to Fati and haven't acted like a total bitch.

While the trophy doesn't mean much, let's be happy for Fati who has had it rough for the last few years. Still a nice thing to win against a powerhouse like Spain.

I was the first one to congratulate you guys when Messi won the WC. Nice to see you do the same to Fati this time.

Cheers.

I have to say there was much less hate than i expected. Even the KL group(except KL ofc) was relatively fair. So thumps up for donnyak, rory, cata 👍 KL was obviously spamming with his CR hate posts once again but that seems to be a natural obsession for him, i doubt he will ever stop that and getting support from Mara the last few days has made it even worse, guy liked every anti-Cr post in seconds, he really needed that humble(ing) yesterday 🤣

Seems like this will be the starting XI vs Colombia

Almada------------Julian-----------Messi
-------------Enzo------------RDP
-------------------Paredes
Medina----Otamendi-----Romero----Molina
---------------------Dibu

Vamos!

Some issues we need to solve

- LW: I don't think Almada is the answer. He's more of a 10 than a LW. A right footed Soule would have been perfect. At this point, might as well try Soule at LW, or do the Di Maria role at RW that he had from 2021 - 2024 and have Messi more centrally.
- Dribbling: Other than Messi, we don't have a player who is good at taking on player 1-1. Soule is the one that comes to mind and I really hope that Scaloni selects him as we really need a profile like him.
- Otamendi: Enough said. There's other players like Balerdi and Senesi who is ready to take on the LCB role. Not sure if Licha comes back, he will be the starter LCB like in the Copa 2024.
- RB: Love Molina, but his confidence is way down and he needs to get out of Atletico. Time for Scaloni to do some scouting. I have confidence in Molina that he will get back to his best if he does leave the club.

Was gonna put this in qualifying for WC thread but it pertains here too. With the CONMEBOL qualifiers now only eliminating three teams from 10, 18 games per nation and a 90 game programme seems like serious overkill. Yes, I understand it makes them a lot of money, but surely from a footballing and logistics POV it would make more sense to divide it into two groups of 5 now. Then you could have the top three from each group qualifying directly, and the two teams in fourth playing off for the right to play in the interconfederation qualifying tournament.

By doing that you go from 18 games to 8 games per team. Alleviates a lot of pressure on South American players, who often play in Europe and have to travel long distances, and also brings them more in line with European qualifiers number of games.

There's still a lot of inequality in games played. AFC and CONMEBOL teams for example play many more games than most other confederations (admittedly over a longer period and it helps there's no qualification for Copa America). Surely you could reduce qualifying games fill those slots with friendlies for fringe and up and coming players to get a chance.

Logistics POV, it makes sense, but on a footballing POV, I honestly prefer the current format. Reason is because
- For friendlies vs European countries are so difficult to plan because they do the UEFA Nations League.
- For friendlies vs Asian and African nations, we can schedule them after the WCQ ends, to which we are doing right now in Fall 2025.
- For Concacaf nations, we can face them in the Copa America.

CONMEBOL WCQ eliminating 3 teams helps reduce the pressure and it's much better for fringe player to still be played in these competitive matches rather than in friendlies.

Good points. Good post as usual and gives food for thought.
