I don't think it's about Messi hindering, just about griezmann being tactically redundant and useless. Overall i agree with you. It works with Deschamps/Simeone football, an attacker that hates attacking just isn't for this club. I don't know why the users on this forum fawn over him so much either.

Been sensational for France and fee/wages aside was never as near to being as bad for Barca as was made out.
Scored/assisted 30 odd in 50 games in that last season and was best player when won last trophy.
This idea he 'plays better in defensive sides' is nonsense... he was better for Barca than has been since returned for Atleti and even in first spell at Atleti they were average for possession stats etc not some park the bus side.
Sociedad were not a defensive side either.
That cross yesterday was pure class and he hasnt been some second striker in a counter/defensive team either he has been all over park and had the most quality on the ball when teams are sitting back.. that is where majority of his best moments have come.

Agree he clearly plays better for teams that play a more counter attacking style of play & always plays well for France more or less.
But for Barcelona he was clearly dog shit average, terrible transfers.
Now everyone who play half decent when we won the copa is being made out to he some Excellent player, that achieved something great while being at the club, like winning the copa is winning the CL,
Oh yea we paid 120m for him to help us win the copa, not as bad as made out, fuck out here with that shit.
He was terrible for us, bang Average, in comparison he makes the other guy who seems to get credit for us winning that Copa and a game against Napoli, look World class for us since being here.

His best season for years in terms of goals/assists was last at Barca with 30 in 50 odd games. So not all about counter attacking.
His best moments for France this world cup have been when they have ball in final third more than any counter attacking situation really.
Also this France side have had 55% of possession and not sitting back. Same as likes of Brazil.
France at Euro 2016 were not a counter side either when he was best player at tournament.
His Atletico teams were mid range for possesion when there in past also.

Barca was a massive mistake, he had a consistent shout at being top 3-5 player in the world at Atleti. Wasted 2 peak years with Barca's slow-ass turgid style
