9 - Robert Lewandowski

Offer zero press and being a man down in a game against these EPL teams when already at a physical advantage like yesterday stands out a mile.

Cant run into space.. again v these physical teams it limits the team and he just stands around being man handeled.

Cant hold up ball.. was failing in basic 5 yds passes when did get free and orher times being rag dolled.

Yesterday he was so bad could barely get on ball and managed to make 8 passes with worst pass % of any starter.

Despite barely getting on ball he managed to have the most poor touches/dispossessions int the team at 5.

All this while costing the club near on 40m on the books.

It is pathetic and nothing but counting down days until gone of a player paying far far too much for what offers.

Obviously he has been brilliant and had an exemplary career. Nobody is denying that he's one of the best strikers of the last 30 years - not even me who isn't as big a fan of him as most.

However, he was painful to watch the other night. He actually did have a few good moments of linking play, but several poor ones too, and I feel a younger him would have possibly scored that chance he had where he had to try to redirect the ball from a short cross. It was far from an easy chance -t came at him at pace and he had to open his foot up and change the angle of the ball - but you expect a striker playing for Barca to hit the target with that, and he likely would have if he was younger.

He's been a fantastic 9 but he's 38 in 5 months and time waits for no man. The same happened to Ronaldo several years ago.

I feel like these guys who keep playing until they are 40 (other than Messi who seems to still have a good amount of his ability) are actually harming their legacy. I mean obviously nobody will remember the mistakes they made post 37 or 38, but it just screams of desperation and being terrified of retirement. Which is understandable as they've played football all their life and it's the core part of their identity. Retiring must be like losing a massive chunk of yourself.

The point is, though, that genetics or ageing and time have never lost a fight. It's always been a shame when top players have to retire, but it's time to give it up. Knowing when to pass the baton is admirable in itself.

Funny Laporta said we might not shop for a #9 next season since we have Tuna and Rags  He's trying NOT to win the election?

Very well liked by the Football industry 🔥

Criminally Underrated by the media.

🚨🗣️ 𝗡𝗘𝗪: David Trezeguet: "I would sign Lewandowski for Juventus, even at 37 years old because he is from another category."

"He's the last real number nine remaining. He might not have the same physical level anymore, but he's strong, intelligent, and scores goals."

"I would drive him to Turin myself."

This is what happens when you stay one season too much

Last season he had still a little bit of football left in him but at the end it was time to go. Now he looks very much his age and it's obvious he can't do it on top stage anymore

Dead horse beating continues.

How smart is that?

Lewandowski thread is purely recreational at this point with his two more months remaining, it should only be used as a thank you farewell book.

Better go snd beat up Ferran for not meeting 'better than Lewa' expectations.

How you doing mate? You in a mood with me? Seen you liked my movie posts then removed them lol. Hope it wasn't me talking about personal preference being distinct from objective ability in Ronaldo thread.

In here I think my post above was very fair.

I removed them because I had given them to you as a signal of being euphoric to see you finally come out of the prolong post-fasting. The likes had nothing to do with the content of which I wasn't familiar with, so they would've not made logical sense anyway....I was hoping you would have never noticed.
