Nah not pressing is an issue that impacts team,
But when he offers no threat at all against a high line like that as cant run in behind.. or offers no hold up play either to help team up the park.
The fact he cant do any of those things is evident again and paying far far too much for a 37 yr old on books for that.
All while let go of a player for same fee and less wages who is younger and goes on to win balon dor and CL.
He is redundant unless getting ball into box and limits how BArca can play and provides options for top teams how to play against Barca.
150m gone for 4 seasons of it and nothing at end.
Abysmal planning.
Could literally have kept Dembele, Auba and LDJ for that and had a stronger squad and still money left over and a player in Dembele with value 4 years on.

Lewandowski, in fact, received one of the highest ratings in this match, toiling in defense, dropping back. He simply wasn't getting the ball. He's not Messi or Maradona who drops back, wins the ball, and dribbles past five players while running 50 meters.

Zero service but he was winning every aerial duel in the first half and directing the balls to his teammates. He was dropping deep and creating space and playing good passes. Also the only guy to put in a sliding challenge on Caicedo.

Whilst what JamDav wrote is true, Lewa is very limited in his all round game at this point, he is also very very good at what he does specifically, so if we can get the ball to him near the area he will contribute.
It could be useful having some forward or AM alongside him who is good at shielding/holding up the ball and keeping the team high up the pitch so that they can get the ball to him in advanced areas.

Throwing Dembele out was a huge mistake and there are those of us who said it whilst it was happening.
Absolutely criminal we let a world class winger go so cheaply knowing we do not have the money to replace him with a similar player.

He limits the way Barca can play big time in these matches in every way.
No top team wants stirkers that dont press, cant run and only relevant in the box.
Massively put played by Neto who isnt even a CF but pressed could run channels and didnt have to wait for ball in box to be a threat.

Could have Dembele and Auba and more left over for others for what spending on Lewa.
Its shambles to pay this huge money for a CF that age and have him leave for free at end.

Yes, but Lewandowski also takes two business days to run in behind and take extra touches to get the ball under control.
He still scores some great striker goals based on pure instinct and his football IQ, but his legs are gone. He's 37 years old after all. How many times have we seen our wingers actually do what you're saying only for Lewandowski to not do anything?
In ideal circumstances he should have been replaced this last summer, if not the year before.
Which is why the rumors of Kane also scares me. Kane is fucking fantastic, but in one or two years we might be stuck in the same situation.

He's definitely slow, no arguments their and we need a mobile striker in the summer.
But the default whenever we lose a game, always seems to be lewa didn't press, while ignoring he got no service.
When he gets service and fucks up. Its fair to be critical like vs PSG two season ago, comes to mind.
But we know he's slow,but will most likely score if given service and too often Once we are pressed, the midfield just fails to progress the ball to get him and yamal in dangerous positions, yamal can figure it out on his own, but that has never been lewa's game even at his best.
