The intensity just 5-6 years ago was just not at the same as it is now.
There is just much more tactical pressing and intensity and physical conditioning and athleticism now.
Even Xavi admitted it. His words were literally that "the game was much slower pace", which is why he adapted a more counter-attacking dynamic system when he became manager.
But it wasn't enough, Flick ultimately brought the physical side of the game in addition to the tactical.
It's a new era, we just don't know how well Suarez would have done. He also had Messi to feed him the ball which is unfair by any standard.

As for his conversion rate, it's still a bit too high, hopefully misses some meaningless stuff so law of averages doesn't catch up to him in all or nothing CL game. I know that's not how it works, but it kind of is heh

Ronaldo has been finished and actively sabotaging teams (regardless of his obsession with scoring) since he left Real Madrid, so it is definitely true.
I have given Lewy a hard time (just because of his old self) but he's definitely better now than Ronaldo was in 2021.

I once mentioned acrobatic, acrobatic goals. I said that apart from Robert, only Zlatan and maybe sometimes Erling Haaland can score such goals. It wasn't a pretty goal, but the level of difficulty was high, and perhaps very important.
