Very good player, that's it. His level does not allow him to simply own a midfield, and never will.
Still better than any other midfielder in the world. Xavi is the goat midfielder with Zidane, so of course that comparison was stupid, and only idiots believe it.

There's Vitinha who is a cut above at the minute, and many midfielders of top level, Pedri included.

Dont think Pedri has been good for a few weeks now bar Spain really.
Last three league games dropped it v Sevilla, Girona and Real and in CL v PSG and Olympiakos hasnt been any better.
Had some class moments but a lot of sloppyness and slow defensively in those games.
I love Pedri but for Barca he hasnt been all that amazing this season really bar Newcastle.

He has played the best football of his career before and after Xavi.
Pedri could play any position in midfield more or less but he needs to be where can get on ball from back often and as much as can. Not waiting through others for the balll as much as was under Xavi.
To me Pedri is suffering a bit as the defence is chaotic and the front line has four players who are all or nothing on the ball.
Look at Fermin.. goalscorer he is fantastic but he has no brain to pause game or care about tempo. Everything is 100mph and focused on goal with a lot of goals and a lot of poor decisions.
Not just Fermin...every attacker is like that at Barca and having four of them doing it is allowing for a lot of goals/assists but lack of control.
Pedri is ending up running shuttles between defence and attack constantly and looks knackered.
The best for Pedri would be a fit/confident Olmo at AM asked to calm down and be more of link player than a stat heavy attacker as they are all trying to be.
Also playing into that is Barca dont have a CF that can hold up the ball.
Ferran and Lewa are the same in that they are not great hold up players but can have some decent flicks/passes to set up chances... but again it is a lot of balls given away before comes off.
The holy grail every club is looking for at CF is height, pace and hold up play... Barca lack it.
