8 - Pedri

Hes the only one of our Midfielders that can excel in all 3 phases of the game and a natural by product of that is, he's the only one asked to and is so vital to the engine of our team, the moment he's off form, it's immediately noticeable.

None in our Midfield can pick up the slack.

He's also just tired as fuck and this part is on flick because just sub the man when cames are well in half 70th minutes into the game

Always same shite.

Pedri doesnt play well and made out to be others fault.

Literally the last game v Girona team got better when he went off for example and won.

Other players have stepped up plenty.

Frenkie came on to win game v Oviedo a few prior etc.

Pedri seems like he is struggling partly because the space between our lines is too big. The off the ball movement is suffering alot missing Raphinha, Lamine not fully fit and Rashford to an extent learning the system. I don't think Ferran looked fully fit against Madrid.

Still, against Madrid after the early barrage where we could have been 2 or 3 down, we settled at 60%+ largely lethargic possession. And Pedri was a key part of this, keeping in mind the lack of movement. It was a late days Barca under Xavi performance. Which was the biggest worry of the game as despite a few Vini, Bellingham and Mbappe moments of individual brilliance, Madrid were there for the taking a very much still a work in progress.

They were not better, just less worse, which is possibly the biggest red flag for Spanish footballs current standards, unless Barcelona get back on track to how we performed with Flick last season.

He's a great recycler, progressor and chance creator. What it's so obvious is that he shouldn't have that much defensive duty.

His words are that he gets injured if not playing enough.

But he becomes useless if he plays all the time. So which one we choose? His level is dropping fast. Can't keep up with the intensity

Change the workouts. Way lighter. Move every day but light walks or test different things. The guy looks completely finished at this point of the season.

I mean i don’t know, it is just what he said.

I also doesn‘t think we play like this because of pedri beeing tired. I don’t know it really, maybe we need a fit raphinha and Lewandowski in top form. And a good defender like inigo.
Last year, Lewa was also criticized by many, even though he scored 40 goals. Perhaps this type of striker is essential for Flick, someone who is also strong in the air.
Another point is that this year we're trying to establish more control in the build-up play. Last year, Pedri and Frenkie played much faster and more vertically. We conceded a lot of goals as a result, but we scored even more. Perhaps Pedri needs to bring more chaos back instead of controlling the game. But these are just my suggestions; I have no idea if it's true.

But that's standard Bayernball. Only when we play low block Liga fodder we see it hidden but mediocrity can beat them anyways so don't get 'exposed' then.

Dunno if I can stomach rewatching the match but panda made a number of straight and I mean straight vertical solo runs with blinders on to get picked off or just end in horseshoes or back passes. Borderline watching a below average IQ autist, oh but those cute pirouettes we don't even see past few games.

Good post.

Sigh....

If there was a time to get injured, getting injured now is the best outcome with the red card and the international break coming up
