8 - Pedri

Almost all of his dribbles and tight actions in pressure showing his skill are followed by safe play meaning just sustained possession, rarely goes directly into goal chances unless it's low probability medium insha to forward line with multiple markers.

olo @ quoting Kroos like he should be our benchmark

Pedri like Yamal will just get better and better and adding pace up top open up even more options to him.

In next few years Yamal will start to drift more centrally.. Barca could have Pedri, Olmo, Yamal connecting in areas that teams juts cant cope with.

This video disproves your notion, ma dude.

incorrect, it's a sample of his best plays which aren't indicative of his total body of work and their plenty examples in that video that fit my description, ironically if not looking closely won't realize he's dribbling toward his own goal in some of them

true it's not total gimpball of years prior so yes he's improved but nowhere near what it could or should be

the biggest problem in his highlights is the same problem Yamal has they rely on solo action to progress the ball with one twos under pressure rare as hens teeth, which obviously has a lot to do with quality of their teammates and emphasis on Bayernball to compensate for lack of tight passing ability

watch Miami's or last year's Galaxy's highlights and you'll see much sophisticated intricate passing with their 10s and teammates in progressing the ball, it's an indictment to where Barca are at which doesn't have to be the case if the board were smart enough to recruit players who can play up to Yamal's level

if Yamal had Messi's authority he would demand his players with his passes, but obviously too young and should be the board's and Flick's responsibility to provide that

donkey, rags, Lopez, Martin, Balde, creampie, chihua, are all piss poor in tight passing ability

Could haves, should haves... Last year this time around I was convinced Pedri will never reach the 2021 level, due to series of hamstring injuries. He played very safe and uninspired style of football. I'm glad Flick managed to change that. Pedri is in his best career form so far and it's a joy to watch how he moves the ball.

Haters gonna hate.

Toni Kroos about Pedri:

"That's a player you miss when he's not playing. He doesn't just score goals, he doesn't just set up goals, he gives you solutions. In my eyes, a Pedri like that is almost more important than a Yamal, than a Raphinha, than Lewandowski. Those are the decision-makers, but to get there, Pedri is currently the best there is in that position in my eyes - and that's saying something, because I have white Real Madrid eyes," said Kroos.

"Pedri is one of the very few midfielders in this position who has the ability to dribble past someone in a confined space. That's actually the supreme discipline, that you're able to outplay an opponent with just one pass. Or with a short dribble. Pedri helps you in all phases of the game: against high pressing, because he's able to solve that, or against a deep block, because he's able to find solutions and spaces there too," explained the 35-year-old, backing up his words with figures.

Kroos: "I had a look at what Pedri is doing this season: In the Champions League, he's outplaying 52 opponents per game, which makes him better than 91 percent of all other players in his position. He outplayed eleven defenders per game, which is better than 97 percent of all other players in his position. It's even more extreme in the league season, where he outplays 59 opponents per game, which is better than 97 percent of all LaLiga players in his position - and twelve defenders per game, which is a mega amount. He's better than 100 percent, which means he's the best."

I don't think that tackle in the Euros was an accident after reading this. He knew who he had to take out, glad it didn't work in the end.
