7 - Ferran Torres

Doubt Barca will pay 70m. It is being reported as near enough done at around 50m and negotiating how will be paid.

If can get him for 50m and then sell on Depay for 25/30m in summer and then also take in the Griezmann and Trincao money that is very good business.

When you look at it from Torres point of a view, it's not really surprising he wants to come. First of all, he could play more minutes, he could be face of the franchise instead of one of the players with City. He is coming back home. He probably loves living in Spain compared to UK. Like Frenkie said in a recent podcast, it's almost always great weather. England is terrible in that manner. He will be close to his family and friends, Valencia is close.

Ticks all the boxes, other than having higher salary I guess. Outside if money, this is unbelievable opportunity. This is the best bargaining power Barca has right now: incredible opportunity.

And history quite frankly which was ultimately my point. City could be far & away the best team on the planet with the best coach & deepest pockets but it does not have the history of Barca - it'll be generations before (if) kid will grow up dreaming of playing one day for them

At Barca, that dream is born every day irrespective of the current financial or sporting predicament

Did Atleti suggest they want to pay to get Griezmann back?
With Saul back they might not have contract room.

Obviously kids do grow up wanting to play for their local team, whatever league and nation they are in. That is the beauty of football. To think that only happens with Barca is sheer arrogance.

It's remarkable really that City at its height with Barca architects at the helm still cannot maintain players from going to a struggling Barca. That's something the Sheikhs & their petro money can never buy

A nice story mate, maybe you should start writing children stories.

City never sold/got rid of a player they didn't want to get rid, in the Abu Dhabi era. Same goes for PSG in the Qatar era.

We can romanticise the deal as much as we like, but truth is they don't really need him. And he is just a stop-gap for them at CF. If they would get a striker, Ferran would ride the bench most of the time.

Of course they don't NEED Torres. But they don't want to get rid of him. The deal is gonna happen (if it does), because the player wants to come back to Spain. City don't want to sell but have enough quality in the team to not be that bummed about losing Ferran.

And this is also because Barca is slowly starting to turn the ship in the right direction. The next 1.5 years will be crucial. Especially in regards to transfers and players that we can move in that time frame.

Ferran Torres is a good player who will only get better. We are talking of a Spanish international player. One that scores goals, appears so essential to the national team he is played for 85 mins with a broken bone in his foot. He has already scored a hat trick at international level v Germany and one in the EPL v Newcastle.
City will develop him further and he will become a top striker.

If City or anybody else was buying him today from Barca, none of you would be saying 50m.

50m for him is a bargain. Personally, I hope he stays. Aguero only averaged 25 league games a season for Pep. Last season Torres played 24.This season he was left out for Liverpool and Chelsea.

The deal is gonna happen because City wants it. I repeat, they never sold a player they didn't want to get rid off in the Abu Dhabi era.

If you think 'getting rid of' sounds too harsh I can find synonyms.

If City were content with him and didn't really want to sell they would have slapped a 70-80M price tag on him and told us to pay up or fuck off.

City have too many good players that would get more minutes at other top clubs to keep them all happy.

Foden/Grealish/Silva/KDB/Torres/Jesus/Mahrez/Sterling would all play a lot elsewhere and City dont really have many nailed starters within that and rotate a lot.

They definitely rate Torres as a player but are over loaded and now with Silva staying and arguably being their best player there is too many players to keep happy. Most likely on top of all that they still want a CF also.

Regardless it is about how much he is worth to Barca now and he would improve things a lot and has been a very good signing for City.

Could argue no top club really sells a player if dont want to unless have a buy out but City did sell Sane when they didnt want to anyway as he wouldnt renew.

Trying to make out City are not content with Torres is miles off.

There is a difference between how City and PSG conduct business. Not the same, even if both owners are from Middle-east. If you can't tell the difference between PSG and City / Chelsea... can't do much for you.

Of course there is.

City sold both Sane and Sancho when they would not renew and most likely would have sold Sane a year earlier had his knee not buckled.

Last summer it was said Silva, Laporte, Cancelo could all leave if similar prices were met and Sterling also.

Trying to make out any player City are willing to let go they are not happy with is not accurate.

FCBarca does speak shite though and tries to come across as the most staunch cule and his point about City being powerless to stop players wanting Barca is nonsense.

With all the Cavani rumours, a Torres + Cavani + Coman (if he comes) front line doesn't sound too bad. Now if we just get that defense and midfield fixed we might be back in 2 or so years.

Indeed, City (and Chelsea to a much lesser extent, even if they have had more continental success) have a strong sporting structure.

No player is bigger than the sporting management team currently helmed by the genius of Pep, who will consistently bring out the best of willing player. They are early Wenger Arsenal on rocketfuel.

Everyone at City has a price, and is replaciable.

All players have a price and are ultimately replaceable. The difference I pointed out is that sporting success, money & the best coach in the business doesn't assure you of a player wanting to stay. As has been the case with several players at City - particularly those they didn't want to leave (Sane, Sancho & Garcia). That rarely happens at Barca where a player pushes for a move to another club - the dream is to arrive at Barca, not City

Now, same is happening with Ferran - that is pull, you simply cannot buy

As it stands, if they are to add players into a transfer - Dest makes a lot of sense

Do we need know that Ferran Torres wants to leave City? Just rumors so far, right? Also, how much we will be paying him vs. his current salary at City, his perceived chances/minutes here vs. at City are all factors driving his rumored decision to come here, it is not as simple as City lacking whatever we have to retain players. It is quite arrogant to believe that we or some other clubs have a special pull that certain other clubs don't, regardless of everything.

And increasingly, for all clubs, including us, money matters. Case in point Ilaix and soon, Dembele, particularly if he ditches us to join Newcastle.

Finally, 70m for Ferran Torres??! We should keep our money.
