4 - Ronald McDonald Araújo

Mental stuff is very important, guys like Eric and Ferran talked about getting help in that aspect, and it took quite a bit of time to get mentally fit, as you can see with both of them and how they play these days as they are playing with a lot of confidence.

But I'm not very happy with the way Araujo decided to bail on the team in a crucial run of games due to his mistake vs Chelsea to recover mentally. Feels like if this was a long-standing issue, he should've sought help much earlier, as Eric and Ferran have done.

It comes off as a cop-out to avoid getting criticized for his mistake. But I'm just an armchair quarter back so who the fuck knows.

For me honestly I'm very happy with what he did

It shows he actually cares for the club

Ter Stegen should have done this after 8-2, for example, if he had some honor. I shipped 8 goals in a CL knockout game, okay sorry I need a fucking reset

Not only one mistake, he made two - both brainless. So what if if he's feeling bad or good mentally, he's got no brain.

Dembele has no brain either and got the ballon D'Or
I am not the biggest Dembele fan, to say the least, but even I dropped this Dembele low iq narrative

You can't perform so well in false 9 role against top teams if you have no brain. He has had some very smart moves in CL campaign

That is to say he is not some football genius either. He is a good passer of the ball but his vision and reading of the game is nothing special, certainly not on level of ballon d'or. But it is what it is. He is still not on same level of dumb as Araujo

And even then he has technique, it is the base for a footballer. Araujo just sucks at football, he is very strong which is how he earned himself a place in top football

Defenders, especially CBs has more requirements in brain power then, where Dumbele plays. Nobody cares, when the later loses the ball stupidly in final third as long as he delivers goods in attack.

He can still have a career in Europe easily, there reactionary/kneejerk takes are shocking as usual. There are many leagues and teams, he can easily play for a top-7 team, top-4 if he gets it together.
You are underestimating mental illness.

For a majority of footballers with anxiety or depression, their career was either finished, or was a free fall from that moment, or played at some lower club.
Bojan Krkic, Bartra, Dybala, Ilicic.

It's easier to get back from back to back cruciate knee injuries than from mental problems.

If you buy a player with mental issues, they can come back in any moment.

Big clubs surely won't buy him.
For midtable teams he has too high wages.
So, the only options are Barcelona, smaller teams, Uruguay or Usa.

I would be hesitant to classify Araujo’s case under mental illness.

Seems like inability to maintain focus and/or act impulsively.

I said starting from 2 years ago I suspect he suffers from ADHD or something along those lines.

Isnt adhd a mental disorder?
Yes, but I would be hesitant to classify everything as mental ilness. Slippery slope. Next being overly sensitive is one.

It’s a condition I guess. But everyone seems to have one. Dyslexia, Colorblind.
Some claim Messi was on spectrum.

But what do I know.

He is probably playing the victim card to draw some sympathy for being a totally average footballer. Some people like excuses like that, some type of event or condition beyond their control that is to blame for their failures. Coping mechanism and avoiding responsability. He's not suffering from anything, he's just a common player with no special skills. Everything about him is ordinary.
