4 - Ronald Araújo

Maybe captaincy would also motivate him to get his act together. He doesn't look like slacker, just lacks certain abilities on higher level that Flicks football demands. Think he will at least try to work hard on those issues.

He ain't gonna start much. He's probably 4th defender if all are fit.

I think it's gonna be like last season. Frenkie and Raphinha will be wearing the armband most often.

You think lacking abilities is going to get fixed in 5 weeks ?
Not necessarily, but i believe in Flicks ability to guide players into better versions of themselves. Not that he would suddenly become prime Pique, but definitely can curtail some of his shortcomings and eliminate outright flaws like raising hand for offside and loose focus. I'm certain Flick is furious about shit like that.

Damn, captain and most likely a starter now. If there ever was a time to get his shit together, now would be the time. If this doesn’t motivate you to at least try then you don’t deserve to be here.

I want to believe that a guy who just couple of years ago proved he is one of the best at what he does would still be able to be that player if given chance. Let's see how his game looks like when he is a regular starter after proper preseason before completely writing him off.

His skillset with the ball is one of the least important part of his game IMO. Just make a simple pass to someone next to you. We have enough talented players in the squad to make those breakthrough passes. Ronald Araujo doesn't need to be one.

This guy was available for most of last season and Flick intentionally benched him to overplay Inigo and Cubarsi.

Everything about this guy spells disaster to high line football that Flick plays.

He's been here 6 years and everyone knows he's terrible at reading the game and even worse is atrocious on the ball.

He's not going to be some sort of revelation next year lol.

it's not so much the skillset with the ball, it's more his IQ and his positioning for the offside traps.

That sounds good until teams make him pass the ball like PSG did. Just press Cubarsi and the DM and watch Araujo self destruct
