4 - Ronald Araújo

Because I don't believe in stuff like the fans emasculating him or that it's only about one or two mistakes and it being blown totally out of proportion. He's not a kid nor an inexperienced player. @Don Juan Laporta Estruch. Besides he's also making similar mistakes for his national team.

He's a player with some great attributes that we need, but also a player with some deadly flaws and those have been apparent for a long time. It's just that most of us overlooked it since it wasn't exposed as much as before.

This season is it for him. He need to show significant improvement otherwise we need to be more ruthless in getting rid of players that don't fit into our plans or have shown to be reliable.

I'm not too fussed about Araujo this season. I would be happy to cash in on him as in my opinion, he's shown to be too mistake prone in the big moments, and he's very injury prone on top of that

But if he does stay, don't see it as a huge negative either as Flick hasn't seen him as a starter so far anyway, and in most lower pressure games his height and pace would be useful. If he gets back form and regains his place in the team, that's a bonus.

Should keep him and make him a starter again.

Maybe he can keep it together... or not... but we aren't winning the CL with Cubarsi and Inigo as a pairing. Araujo might make it 50/50 in key games

Basta yaaaaaaa, Cabron ! y Bona nit 🥂
Let me rephrase by comparing his situation to that of Dani Olmo. When Olmo came here, in the first few games, he was, not only the best CAM in the world, but arguably one of the best players in the world full stop. He then got injured and when he came back he was barely worth a place in the team.

To me, the reason is obvious. Olmo plays SCARED to get injured. When you step on to the pitch scared, for whatever reason, you are dead. Useless. No good to anyone.

When I look at how one of the best centre backs in the world turned into a virtual meme, the same thing strikes me. Araujo plays SCARED. But he is not scared of getting injured. He is scared of making errors. People think if you shove him in to a low block team he goes back to being world class. But I disagree. No chance. Not with his current MENTALITY.

Though this is on him, the ridiculously overblown reaction to his mistake versus PSG by childish spoilt fans, played a significant role in developing this SCARED MENTALITY that he now has.

That's my reasoning for his massive drop off in quality. I'm willing to listen to other people's reasons.

Yea he's definitely playing with the mistake in the back of his mind, which won't help with the mistake against inter which is an even bigger mistake.

PSG was a nothing burger that could have done either way.

He has to just shake it off, the best players have short memory's.

I don't see a single great attribute on him. He's poor technically, positioning is awful most of the time, rash in tackles and overall decisions under pressure, not very fast either on short distances. He looks big, but is turned over by players in 1 vs 1, even by slow ones like Thuram. Still taking credit for one game vs Vinicius 2-3 years ago. He also played in the 0-4 on Camp Nou in 2022-23. Or in the 1-4 in 2024 in Arabia. Pretty shite for 2 years and counting. He got exposed. Every opposing manager knows Araujo is the one Barca player you want to put pressure on because he shits the bed. Also the one you can let on the ball because he's clumsy with his passing. Too many problems with him which is why nobody wants to pay good money and transfer him.

He mostly looked OK in that season when we often played AM-like under Xavi, but as people said at the time, that was just something done to win a title. It's not how we play normally. Easy to look more composed and more defensively solid when the whole team is defending deep and playing counter attacking football.

Once the team expands and is stretched out, you have to be pretty good on the ball and very disciplined in 1 vs 1 and in positioning. He presents neither of those qualities. If he ever hits some good form again, use it to sell ASAP the first good offer comes. Sell anyway next summer to get rid of his wages, even for as low as 25-30m similar to that Juve offer.

He has just been injured.
He needs consistent game time.

The only other thing i would add is how easily he is bullied in the air by players half his size.

But yeah that describes best to a tee lol.

Well, let's see. Now the buyout clause expired, does his price go up or down?

Barcelona desperate to sell, ffp up our ass and Scrotum with an STD all factored in, I'd say it goes against us and it's gone down.

If he goes, 20-30m sale imo.

I dont understand one thing.

Any half-decent team does a session of rondos per training day, these days. And we are the pioneers of rondos, we definitely do them.

I cant seem to fathom how this brother, after 6 years in this team doing rondos almost every fucking day, is still is shit with the ball on his feet.

It just fucking baffles my mind. I am not even talking about his other deficiencies, like IQ or concentration. Which is like, mental, and not much can be done.
But this, it just doesn't compute blyat.

It's mental. He will be decent on the ball at most other sides. But here, he fuckin knows that he is the worst on the ball in the whole squad, including goalkeepers (well minus Woj now).

That has got to play on the mind.

i dont know man, 6 years in this team and you are this bad with the ball. It's almost comical.

He certainly knows, the players playing against him are not Barca but other teams that are much worse on the ball than his teammates.
It actually baffles my mind.
