35 - Gerard Martín

Two very good assists, shameful defending for the Inter late equalizer.

Inexperience takes its toll. Obviously, as Martin was never supposed to play here.

Flick is not to blame that he is forced to play unexperienced children at the biggest stage and no depth. And in the choice he made, yes he was right.

Overall good game.
Inter 3rd goal was actually a foul, but no way it was going to get called.

It's just that he uses too much time to process what he is going to do. How many touches he need to take, where to play the pass.
It leads to all these errors. He's just a lower tier player.

If you are talking about 3rd goal, it was about him being stiff rather than ability to process.

I am not sure his brain is slow (football wise), it could be the case. But I always felt it was about him lacking trust in his own ability, for a good reason.

Everyone knew from the start we needed backup LB.

I think it's both things.
You clearly see him double clutch a lot of times when he has to make a pass or touch. If he lacks complete trust in his ability after all the faith Flick has shown in him then it's probably worse.

Yes, he had his mistakes, but never forget that he is in the team not because the club wanted him, but because they had no choice due to financial restrictions. For a player who doesn't have the skills to play for Barca, he played the most important games of the season with more heart than many other worldclass players.

You can insult Olmo or Araujo for their game losing mistakes, but Martin did what he could and much more.

Date of birth: Feb 26, 2002
Citizenship: Spanish
Height: 1,86 m
Position: Left-Back

Held his own against Rayo.
The defensive situation today was indicative of a bigger problem. Too many starters out of action by this time of the season due to TOO MANY matches being played and subsequent injuries. Between Super Cup, International duty, Copa del Rey, and 38 LA Liga games managers will need to start choosing what competitions to pursue and which ones to rest your starters and give the bench experience.

I didn't see a foul, looked more like he was trying to draw a foul,,, in the penalty box no less when he gave up the ball... SMH man.

I don't think anyone has questioned his heart. You could clearly see him battling through fatigue and maybe injury, it was his decision making, positioning, and careless passing that upset a lot of people. It was just Segunda.

Most of us were harsh on him in the heat of the moment. I would blame Flick more than Martin anyway for playing him constantly although Fort is ass too.
That said, don't want him near the squad next season. Let him leave.

By the way, how isn't it a foul on him on Acerbi's goal?
This referee team didn't give us a single 50/50 call.

I think he belongs to La Liga btw, especially if he get those crosses.

A guy like Cardona is a 3 years older Gerard Martin and is now on the verge of being a starter in a team that will reach CL.

He doesn't belong to Barca at all, but he will have a decent career somewhere.

The way martin fell (there was contact although no foul in my opinion) I m thinking what would happen if it were another team. Possibly Ref would have blown the whistle for a foul.
