For me he had four blunders yesterday. The first goal, obviously.

Then his placement here on the second. Not saying he should have saved it, but look how far he was from the ball. It could have been square down the middle of the goal and he still wouldn't have got a hand to it. From that angle, you have to cover more of the goal.

Then his handling of Ilaix's shot. Came straight at him and he parried it right at the feet of another Celta player, who luckily also hit it right at Szczesny.

Then punching Mingueza in the face, which could have been a penalty.

Didn't count any great saves. Maybe one, where he came out well and blocked a close finish by Borja.

In general, ter Stegen haters have such a huge bias, that they celebrate every easy catch of Szczesny and overlook his bad performances and goal conceding mistakes. It's ridiculous by now, but also a good filter to see who you can take serious and who not.
Obviously Tek should end this season on the pitch, as the defense got used to him and Marc didn't play for a year. But from summer onwards, MAtS will most likely be starting keeper again, because I think Flick will value his strengths with his feet and agility, exactly the two things Flick needs from his keeper and Szczesny is worst at.

Not just the board but most of MAtS' detractors are equally responsible for keeping him relevant. For a club of Barca's aspirations, the standards set for its players should be of the highest . I don't understand how it helps to positively evaluate players' current performances with the sub-par highlights of their predecessors/competition. If we are to be fair to Tek, we should judge his performance for what it is, on individual merit not constantly in relation to MAtS'. And if comparison is needed, lets match him up against the best in the game (likes of courtois etc). I'm sure Tek doesnt go about feeling good because he's done better than MAtS, but rather has self-awareness of his mistakes knowing where he must improve in order to help the team better.

Tek was lauded for his mental resilience and calm demeanor, that he remains unfazed in the face of adversities. How can he now allow some off-pitch comments to affect his performances. The two dont compute. I think its more a case of feeling the pressure that comes with playing for Barca when there is so much riding on the line. It happens to the best, but how you quickly adapt is what separates greatness from mediocrity.

Personally, I was sceptical of his signing at first. But I have come to appreciate the aerial authority he provides against crosses and highballs in the box. This is invaluable for a small team like ours if we are to progress past Inter. I wish him the best and hope he brings his A-game for the crucial matches coming up.
