He would definitely strengthen them. He's a brilliant defender, but Koscielny and Mertesacker have a better partnership so he doesn't play.

Im not trying to sound cocky but if he want's to come to us he will. If you can sell us your captain and by far your best player only 2 seasons ago then this move is going to happen. I don't see how things can change so much over 2 years? have you stumbled over a pot of gold or something? Wenger wouln't sell ramsey and wilshere for example which he would of done a few years ago if they had pushed for a move but for a centre back who isn't in his plans for a good amount of money who is pushing for a move? no, you have it the wrong way around, wenger can want all he likes, if vermaelen wants to join united the deal will happen, the arsenal board won't turn down good money for a player who will leave for free in 12 months. you act like wenger is the only person who's opinion matters at arsenal, do you think he was happy to sell rvp to united, the arsenal board sanctioned that sale not wenger...

Uhmm it's only 10m and makes it so Arsenal doesn't have to look for a 3rd choice cb for another year. They could easily run his contract down it's not a big loss of money like RVP was.
