This is why signing Cancelo was a great idea
He is an idiot in defense. But so is Kounde, and no matter how hard you try to spin it because he has a strong body, he doesn't know how to defend a good winger and keeps getting destroyed in big games
The difference is with Cancelo we get someone who can combine well in attack and actually create some danger in front of goal

Enough with the empty words. Open the match replay and point out Kunde's mistakes that make you rate his performance as terrible.
Okay, in the episode where Vini scored, he let himself get dribbled past. But in reality Cubarsi played terribly in cover there. Or do you expect that one of the best dribblers in the world won’t beat a fullback at least once per match?

He played a good match imo. That situation where he was beat by Vinicius 1 vs 1 can happen to any player. Passing was on point, created some chances, good cross for that big Lamine chance... overall not nearly as bad of a game as people are saying here.
I think offensively we could have played better considering we had the ball 72% of the time. Wasted many attacks, Lamine and Raphinha missed a very big chance, especially Raphinha. Fermin was not in the game at all...
Not great game by either Fermin or Pedri imo.

It does not matter what Cubarsi did. Both are at fault
And he did not get dribbled once. Vinicius also had a chance in maybe 15th minute after he just left Kounde in the dust behind him
And I could probably name you many more such episodes. But there is no point. You are clearly not changing your mind
Vini used to be one of best dribblers in the world. Now he is a guy who hasn't scored in 17 games and performs like shit against very top team's fullback

Your unfair in your assessment. Maybe you are right that it could happen to any player, but that should not mean we should ignore the other instances where he was easily beaten.
One of his redeeming qualities was supposed to be that he has some pace. Seems less and less the case.

It was not so bad of a performance overall, but moments like these can't happen. Not if you have the reputation of a defensive fullback, whose shortcomings in attack we tolerate because of that reputation

It was a 2 v 1. He got stripped and cooked and this bum could not defend half a lane.

He handled the other situations well today. Do you count the great cross that Yamal wasted with a shot straight at Courtois? That's almost a goal created on the other end. All those things add up.
Btw, he played a high amount of nice progressive passes, where he put the ball in the center, which is always more risky than bombing it down the line. This is very important for our game.
He played a good game. Most did ok, but few with a big output today.

He is a defender first imo. I have criticized him in other games where he might have provided an assist. Reminds me too much of forum de amigos days where a player can be poor 10 games in row and when it matters but then provides 1 assist and most is forgotten.
Especially in a defense that is already fragile I just hope he does better defensively than give assists.

Getting beat 1 vs 1 by Vinicius one time doesn't mean he had a poor game. That's all. Nobody said he played a great game. He also faced by far Madrid's best player today. Give him some slack.
Didn't do any dumb tackles, was organized, passed well. He lost a 1 vs 1 vs Vinicius, and the players in that zone didn't help either. Vinicius was 1 vs 3. Kounde, his direct opponent, Pedri, who came to double Kounde, and Cubarsi who also did nothing to block the shot. It was a great goal by a top class player with great pace and dribbling ability.
