11 - Raphinha

Don't see anyone paying 80m but hopefully we can at least get back close to what we've paid for him last year. He's a good player but just not a fit for this team.

But let's assume for a moment he stays, could we use him in that 4th midfielder role if Messi won't return (I don't think he will)?

Something like:

MATS
Kounde - Araujo - Christensen
FDJ - Pedri
Dembele - Raphinha - Gavi - Balde
Lewy

Lineup based on current players, didn't want to speculate with potential new signings as we don't really know who (if anyone at all) we could sign.

Assuming he stays, the right side is sorted. And now that the Messi dream is seemingly over. Focus should be on selling Ansu, Ferran and perhaps Abde to get a proper LW.

But of course if we're getting an 80m offer, then we need to try everything we can to get rid of him.

I don't see Raph being able to play in the right interior spot. His ball retention skills are poor, technique mediocre, and decision-making is also bad. He will be a turnover machine in that role

Why is it that half the Cules seem hell bent on shaping the 11 according to whatever Guardiola's current setup is?

Team has nowhere near the right players to play inverted fullback-pivots Pep has going on right now

You need to catch up. That has been Barca's shape already this season, and at some points in the last season. Xavi used the same setup at Al Sadd.

Also Pep prefers to use Rodri, a real DM, and Stones as a CB-DM libero as his two pivots this season, not a fullback.

Xavi is using Kounde as an inverted RB because we don't have a real right back, and Balde is a good fit for the left winger position if he improves the end product. It's the best fit for the current Barca side stylistically with the players they have.

Well aware Pep prefers DMs at DM. Stones shifts wide to fall into a back 4 when required, hence more an inverted fullback
Barca dont have a player that fits the role
Also team generally been piss poor at playing anything resembling this against most sides that give a challenge and frequently shift players around to accommodate man-to-man marking. Not nearly the right players to do this and Balde pushing high is not an immediate tell this position would fit him

You guys don't get that we won't sell Ansu and Ferran. They don't want to leave
And if we don't make one good sell, we won't be able to even register the contracts of Gavi Araujo and Balde, let alone make transfers

The problem with Raphinia is that he is the only one we can sell for good money, unlike Ansu or Ferran.
He is also redundant on the pitch.
Hence, Messi or not Messi, the smear campaign will start with him and rightfully so

PS: Basically everyone who is at Barca doesn't want to leave.
We are a paradise of club/city and we stupidly complement that with decent money (if not ludicrous at Barto era).
The board should understand what kind of money they should be offering to players ,and what kind of deals with what kind of clauses that would allow the club to get rid easier when someone is not good enough

No, Stones shifts back into the CB position, Akanji stays wide at RB. So it's a more natural movement, going from DM to CB by just dropping deeper in a more-or-less straight line. Of course it's situational and Stones might appear at RB in some situations but generally he becomes the CB.

Same thing was with Braithwaite, Umtiti and Pjanic, in the end they were gone.

It is obvious Xavi is not counting on Ferret and Fati so I am 100% sure one of them will leave the club.
