It would sound worrying if Flick would say that after Bernal being fit for a year. He's back since a few weeks and will still need months to regain his fitness and trust in his own body again to engage on the highest level. Nobody will count on Bernal to carry a weight, he's just a passenger this season.

Rate Bernal from what have seen of him in youth teams but some folk have gone miles over the score about how good he actually was in those games at start of last season.

Impressive for a 17 year old having to come in and play and a good start to build on but fucking miles off the level some make out in those games.

He is young and needs time.

Takes time to return at the top level after such an injury.

He will have his chance next season, although somebody like Tommy Marques may overtake him in pre-season if Bernal is still struggling with the intensity.

Casado is clearly not high on Flicks estimation and will either be a non-key squad member or sold.

After his injury he has looked quite mediocre and slow in every game he has been subbed in. Flick probably sees this too and doesn't think his time is yet to be given constant minutes.
