Called up for Spain U21.

Also there are our former defensive midfielders Pau Prim and Gerard Hernandez. Along with Astralaga, Alex Valle and Marc Guiu.

Good opportunity for Bernal to get some match fitness here.

To think about it, I could be wrong here, but the U20 WC would have been a nice low intensity run of games for bernal to play in.

Watching a few of these games, he's 5x better than everyone, it would be just a nice run out for him in a competitive setting, but maybe I'm wrong & it would have been too much too soon.

Could have been an idea.

Maybe the club didn't fancy a prolonged training period outside of their plan for him?

Let's see if he gets solid minutes in these two home games. If he does, then that, factoring in the travel to Chile could possibly do him more good.

Agreed that he would stand out in that Spain U20 midfield. Pau Prim out of the three mentioned above is the one who should be there really- talent wise. Shame he took the Qatari route and forsaked over half a season of football for it.

Hansi Flick had made it clear at the press conference before the match against Sevilla: "It's a difficult situation. He's not ready to play for many minutes," he began by saying. Today it's not for many minutes. It comes from a serious injury of more than a year. It's not one hundred percent. He is not at the physical level of before the injury. The Federation should be careful and take care of him."

Marc Bernal has been recalled from the U21 squad.

Marc Bernal has been asked to name the one player he would sign for Barcelona and was in no doubt who to go for.
The midfielder says Julian Alvarez is the man he’d bring to Camp Nou in a new interview with Diara Ara.

The midfielder also spoke about his injury and how he’s trying his best to put it in the past after returning to full fitness.

”The injury is a thing of the past now. When I play, I don’t think about it. At most, I’ve had some bad sensations,” he explained.
“Nothing more. It was something that worried me, whether I’d have any discomfort or not. But for now, none.”

All he has to do is not be injured again this year,
We will see what hes really got next year.
He gets a pass this year
