Could also be Laporta's tactic to put pressure on him. I highly doubt his wife or his agent will agree after years of experience especially with his agent. Let's see what will happen. But he needs to make the decision before the transfer window opens, so Barca knows if he's to be sold or not.

Deco:
“Frenkie de Jong isn't to be blamed for earning what he earns. We have to stop talking about the past. He had now taken a step up to the level we expect from him.”
“Regarding Frenkie, for me, they haven't treated him fairly. People don't understand the contract, but it's not a topic to discuss because it's disrespectful to the players. Frenkie is a player we want for the future, and if we can reach an agreement, we will.”

Well look at that. Imagine, eh?

Even Deco admits roasting someone for having a huge current salary due to AGREEING TO DEFER part of his wages in the past (to help the club at that time) is absolutely moronic. Somehow, some people here weren't able to come to that very simple conclusion as well.

While that's true, he was on a higher salary than you would like in the first place.

Not a surprise though given Bartomeu's masterful negotiating tricks.

Like the story about how we were not willing to offer more than 80-90m for Dembele and told Dortmund so and were willing to wait it out. Then Bartomeu meets Watzke in Monte Carlo a couple of weeks later and offers 145m.

Or gee, maybe it’s a negotiation tactic to get him to agree

Deco said that Frenkie's situation is most critical as club can't afford keeping Frankie with less than a year on a contract.
This story should be biggest one these weeks but I haven't seen anything on X lately.

He will leave for free and get a big singing bonus from PSG most likely
