21 - Frenkie de Jong

Like i said so often. His intuition to dictate tempo or smell danger is extremely weak. He didn’t dare to create anything and was scared on the ball. Same as against Argentina in the world cup and Chzech in the Euro. When the matches are for something special he plays short balls left and right

On my fraud watch. Easily one of the most disappointing players on the pitch. When Pedri came off, he had both the chance and the responsibility to take control and create something. Instead—nothing. No creativity, no urgency, no spark. He had time on the ball, but produced zero interceptions, zero through balls, and not a single meaningful pass to break the lines. It honestly felt like he had no sense of the moment. Just the same slow, predictable attempts to “progress” the ball. It was so frustrating to watch.

And let’s be honest—he clearly shouldn’t be wearing the captain’s armband. The team collapses, and all he can offer is a polite smile. Give the armband to Rafa, someone who actually fights for every inch.

At this point, what is he even doing on the pitch?

He put Lamine 1 on 1 with keeper
You really don’t have any shame by saying this. It came of a defender. Just a terrible pass. The whole game useless passing after twisting and turning with no opponent and then play the ball what could have been played 10 seconds before

He did well, one of his typical games, I don't even mean that critically.

But we or the Dutch are highly unlikely to win a major European or world title with him as the starting DM, I would say that's a almost a certainty.

Their is a clear a day upper limit to his ceiling.

Solid match but sorta disappeared after Pedri went off. The two players sorta feed off eachother at this point and have chemistry. If Pedri is off you have to play Casado.

Think this is a defining game for him. He is a good babysitter for pedri. Tidy and cool in possession and distribution, ok in defense but produces very little else offensively. He looks great when Pedri plays but the weaknesses reveal themselves in all glory when Pedri is not by his side. Same for Gavi although Dejong >>> Gavi onviously.
