19 - Roony Bardghji

Why would you want to sell a player like this? Lol.
He's a gem.
Playing in a subpar league till he was 20. Coming out of ACL after a whole year of no play. Guy adapted very quickly and has been performing fairly well whenever he has been given the chance.

At most he doesn't develop further. He fits perfectly as a Yamal backup as off now. No one can deny this.
And he is cheap as fuck. And he was a Messi/barca fan, he wouldn't want to leave easily.

And if he develops further, he can surely enable Yamal to play a different positon, or he himself does that. We don't need to buy another backup/starter.

I have a feeling he would do so much better as a CAM / number 10. He got the chops.
Just need a bit more development and reinventing.

Despite not playing very much, there is a notable improvement in him vs at the start of the season.

At the start of the season, he was clearly trying way too hard to impress and was way more individualistic. Now? he looks like he's on the same page as everyone else.

I think he's still trying to further balance how much sauce he can show but nonetheless he looks good now.

At most, there is a handful of wingers in the world who won't struggle against a healthy and in form Mendes or Alphonso Davies. Even Lamine had hard time against Mendes.

That is an unfair bar to set. Especially for a 20 years old winger returning from ACL who just joined from the Danish league.

I don't know how can he can be against those, and tbh I would wait until he has a full season before making a final judgement, or at least until his level is so clear.

I think he is at least someone we can use reliably regardless of opponents, not as a first choice, but as an option.
I think it's more reasonable to look at flaws after a good game rather than the opposite. People shouldn't blow this out of proportion as is usual at times here. It's easy to hype players after yesterday's demolition, I'm just trying to keep expectations down a notch or two.

It's more about his playstyle than his ability. Think he's too slow for a winger and not sure he will be able to beat better defenders by dribbling at them. Because of that, he will need to compensate with other top stuff, like for example Raphinha and Ferran are doing. These type of players won't cut it as leaders at top teams by themselves but they will be very useful around good players if they can find their niche, old Pedro is another example of that. Fermin might be in that category too. I'm excited to see how Roony develops his game and what type of player he will become.

His ceiling is fairly high but these games aren't proof that he will do this to any opponent you put in front of him. With that said I think he will do great as a squad player as long as he wants to, there will come a time where another club will offer him regular playing time but that would most likely mean a step downwards from Barca.

All in all he is looking like a super signing for 3m and I am happy to have him in the squad. Also looking forward to seeing him as LW as others mentioned.

I think barcaforum is filled with real life salesmen. They want to sell everything

He looks good but that doesn't matter really, back to the bench for 99% of time. Deco finally found someone but he plays where we need a young talent the least. Hope Flick tries him at LW at some point but I can't see him working out there but I also said that about Rapha a couple of years ago and we see how that turned out. He should be a backup for both wingers at this point. It could save us a fortune in the summer if he plays well on the left too.

It's great having him as a sub when Yamal's dick hurts but for him it's not the best situation. I know he's a Barca fan and he had to come when he had the chance but it would be much better for him if he went somewhere where he can play.

We should give him Rashford minutes. Rashy should go back to Manure

It's obvious Yamal tells Flick when he plays, not the other way around so that won't happen. Only hope for Roony is that he coverts to LW, the same as it was with Rapha. The problem is that his playing style seems less suited for switching sides.

He should focus on the CAM/Number10/CF role.

Think it's more suited to him.

The goal her scored with his right foot was quite good. He has a good shot in him. And his dribbling style suits LW or the middle of the pitch.

I can see him as a Cherki type player.

Truth
I thought he was so entertaining last night, a reminder of what we saw in pre-season when it was unclear what he had truly regained recovering from his right knee ACL repair

So many things to appreciate about the player - a real professional, never complains or looks disconnected but rather eager to contribute and integrate. After scoring, going straight to Flick is just a reflection of how much he feels a part of the group and how close Hansi is to the players. He had 2 or 3 genius pre-assists that couldn't be converted but has a great feel for the game

First signing you have to credit Deco, he was not an unheralded gem flying under the radar per se but it was a shrewd signing in terms of timing, fee and scouting considering the ACL concerns and an expiring contract in December

For me, he is not a winger - at least not going forward, he's a #10

As a young player substituting for Lamine, he is doing great holding the mental game for that role.

He should probably be elsewhere like a Lyon or something playing every game and developing, but if we can manage his minutes well we got a player.

A club like Barcelona though, coming in for minutes behind a Ronaldinho, Messi or now Yamal isn't easy. It has eaten many a talented player. Even Dembele who won the Balon d'somerhing couldn't hack it when Messi was here.

Last season people said Flick can't win games without Yamal

But the truth was we had no replacement for Yamal. He goes down injured and we have zero wide threat. So we suffered massively whenever he didn't play

Now we have Roony and Rashford, so two solid wingers that can step up in case something happens to him or Rapha

Our squad depth is great for the most part now and I hope they are not as tired as they were last season by April and May
