Not. None of the journos and club captains would vote for dumbele. Lamine is the player that tactics are already based on, at 17 he has already the attention what only messi and neymar had. Lamine would make them hate every blood cell. Cant wait for that actuallyLamine is in the sweet spot for neutral fans across the world. He's amazing but still very young which people find cute and like him.
Very soon he'll get lots of haters, it happens to every successfull player/club. It happened with Messi who didn't really provoke anybody, Lamine will.
He's a donkey though. Stats don't paint the whole picture.Even though Lamine is the best, I hope Raphinha gets it for his season, he deserves it the most for his hard work, and his clutch play. After him would put Pedri, stats are not everything, if Rodri deserved it, so does Pedri.
They could also see it as Dembele's redemption arc.Votes also depend on popularity. Many journalists don't like Dembele because they covered his behaviour in striking and forcing his exists from Rennes and Dortmund. Also how he left Barca didn't bring him any sympathy by leaving after the club nursed him to health for years, demanding half his release clause goes into his pocket.
If France football won't screw with the votes to let a french player win, I think either Rapha or Lamine will win it comfortably. It also depends on the Fifa WC this summer. If QSG wins it too, then Dembele will win it.
But there is also a chance that Inter will win the final and then the discussion is over anyways.
Only reason I don't want Lamine to win it this year is that it might just be a bit too much a bit too early. Euros, la liga, world acclaim, massive new contract, all before he's 18. Add a balondor to that this year, I really don't know what that'll do to him mentally.
He may not immediately lose motivation next year, but it just feels like it might be for the best if he doesn't win it, because let's face it, he's going to win it sooner than later. The footballing meta is weak and there's nobody around that's a clear favourite.
