Araujo is a ticking time bomb that has gone off time and time again. Martin is a promising developing player.
Araujo has also played big games flawlessly. Check his thread for 1st leg against PSG.

Some players can be good but also have those brainfarts waiting to happen when it matters most. Martin has been targeted and has looked like a bum many times without it luckily affecting the game. Sooner or later it will.

Lenglet was twice a player than this bum.
Lenglet was playing in the EV low block and still managed to fuck up all the time after his first (admittedly very good with the exception of Anfield) season.

Because Martini had been playing in lower leagues in his formative years, he is still developing and learning. He is a late bloomer.

He'll never overcome some technical deficincies in his game because of this, but he is already better on the ball than Mathieu ever was, and Mathieu had a very respectable career.

He's not really developing playing in this system anyway, he is what he will be and it's not good enough.

If reports about 15m offers are true (probably not) should def sell him.

Player from third tier improving with each month playing for Barca... "not really developing", sure.

I don't think we disagree with each other.
But how do you see Martin long term? Can he become the starting LCB for Barca in a CL final?

Martin was around the age we signed Lenglet when he came to the first team.

However Lenglet was definitely far more experienced while Martin was basically a 3rd division player for years.

But I think Martin's development has been far more impressive honestly. Lenglet for his experience ended up cracking when it mattered.

Martin on the other hand was rough but ended up fighting through it and developed into a dependable defender who seems to have a strong mentality to overcome his flaws.

Wolverhampton made a €15M offer to sign Gerard Martin last summer, which was rejected by the player as he ONLY wanted to succeed at FC Barcelona; now he is an undisputed starter.

Wolves will play Brentford in the Premier League tonight.

No, I don’t think so right now. But if we somehow make it into the final this year and one of Cuba/Eric are unavailable at CB, we will find out

jokes aside, all I’m saying is that he is good enough to be a rotational player. He can play in two positions. A ball-playing left-footed CB is also a rare profile in general, so this also adds value to him. I don’t think 15m is enough to sell him. And we shouldn’t sell him until we see his ceiling anyway as he’s still improving.

Gerard Maldini has really developed this season

IMO he should stay away from the LB position. He lacks many elements top LBs have, like dribbling, agility, defending against quick tricky wingers, etc. The only good he has as an LB is crossing

But I like how he develops as LCB. He has to learn a few more things, but he surely can be an important player in the future in this position.

That said, we def need a top top LCB for the summer. Maldini can develop and learn alongside him
