16 - Fermín López

Casado would be the only sensible sale if the club weren't scrambling because of the failures surrounding the stadium and financial fairplay lmao.

He wouldn't even generate half of the transfer fee that Fermin will tho.

If they both end up being sold, him and Simon's will flip teams in London I suspect.

If Simon's ends up at Chelsea, he'll go to Spurs and so on.

Wouldn't be smart for him to go to Newcastle they don't play with a 10, which is best position.

Or random thought, he goes to R.B to replace Simon's that would be great for his career he would cook in Germany, then leave after a few years, but that won't happen.

Casado leaves, then who is backup to FDJ? Bernal is still injured IIRC

Bernal isn't injured he is just being worked in slow and available in September which is basically now. Of course I have a feeling this will be a down year coming off an ACL which is why keeping Casado would be smart for now

If we had planned ahead (why would we ever do that though), could of sold Fermin early in the window for 50+million and brought in Moleiro for 16+2.

I like Fermin, but he's either popping up and scoring a goal randomly or invisible most of the match due to not being good in possession. A great squad player when you need something to happen, but over the course of a full match he usually isnt involved very much.

At this point, if we lose either him or Casado, I don't have much faith in them bringing in an equal or better replacement.

Fermin 75 million, Casado 40 million.
Those are my valuations.
Personally I'd rather see Gavi sold but that's not happening.

Casado doesn't bring anything to table that our rotational options can't compensate for.

Not a bad player to have and its nice he came from Masia but he's easily the most disposable midfielder in the first team.

Fermin can be a bit hot and cold at times, but when he is on it, his attacking ability is something that no other midfielder we have can compensate for. That and Olmo is injured for for 1/3 of the season.

From a sporting sense, it makes no sense to sell Fermin. It only makes sense economically if the club is under big financial pressure.

If this was a sporting decision, Casado would be out the door.

Fermin is far more valuable than people here make out because he is first sub for a guy who has a loyalty card at the local Barcelona hospital. Add that to the fact that Fermin is by FAR the most impactful player we have coming off the bench and he really should be in the ' Not for Sale ' department.

Who de we play 10 when Olmo inevitably gets injured? Raph didn't look good there the other day. And people are dreaming if they think Gavi can play there.

The drop off from Olmo/Fermin to anyone else playing 10, is massive. Potentially massive enough to be the difference between winning a trophy or not.

Yeah good point. Fermin and Olmo are the true number 10s in the squad. Raphinha is not a number 10 for me. For me Olmo is a level above Fermin in talent, but Fermin is much more durable, has a lot of heart and Olmo often injured.

If there were other number 10s in the squad then it would make sense to sell him. I never ever considered Pedri a number 10, and Gavi cannot play there either. Fermin is a different type of number 10 himself, not a classic one. More one who darts into the box than playmakes.

If Flick is happy with him he should keep him. I do like him - there are better players in the squad definitely, but he offers something a little different with his lesser Lampard style of play and directness and ability to get into the box.

Play Lamine centrally, Roony or Raph can play on the right.
The day will come when Lamine is going to be a proper 10 or false 9.

Let's say we get 100 million for Fermin . If we go to buy a player everyone and their dog will look to rip us off.

Thats the major issue I have selling him. He's the only 10 we have other than Olmo.

But if we get around 100m for it, that can soften the blow. It would be kinda unrealistic to have a 100m player as a backup. And honestly, if Olmo is fit and firing, Fermin doesn't come close to the ability he has. We have Dro, Toni, Gavi and Rephinha to rotate. It might not be the best solution, but they should be OK enough to see some games through. We can also go into the winter transfer window for a cheap 10.

Also, we can use those funds to get ourself a proper class LCB, which is an absolute necessity. That might actually be the signing which brings us a UCL.

Although there are only 2 days left in the window. I don't want to sell him, knowing we won't get a replacement or a LCB.

Don't think we are going to spend that money either way but I think PL clubs still have loads of cash to spend these last days of transfer window. If Chelsea sign Fermin they will overpay.

The con is that we will have a bit of cash but a weaker squad.
