16 - Fermín López

Wirtz is much better. He basically conducts the attacking phase. Fermin hasn't shown that, he has been statistically important for us this season but we lacked control with him there.

He can and should certainly improve though. Would not surprise me if he benches Olmo next season for example.

And Messi is better than Yamal, what's your point? You're comparing a guy with literally 1,5 seasons of senior football vs a guy who's played international tournaments and has 140 Bundesliga games.

Some ppl here scare me with their footballing knowledge

That's true. I don't dispute that.
I think Leverkusen's setup also gives Wirtz space to do the conducting. Throw him in Flick's overcrowded midfield and I dont think he will have that much space for it, or will be so much better. Wirtz might be similar to Olmo in that aspect. But he will be better than Fermin for sure.

And hence I have Fermin about 30-40m lower than Wirtz.

Well no. That's the same saying Ferran is better than Lamine because he has more experience.

It doesn't work that way does it.

Fermin comment was in reference to the post prior about him being a 100m player.

But I'm surprised you would ask why I or anyone would rate Wirtz above Fermin. Just watch them both.

Happy to be wrong though, seeing as Fermin is ours.

Ill go along with that. If Fermin was at a 2nd or 3rd tier club we may see a high tier player that big clubs would pay an excess for. If Nico Gonzalez went to Pep for 60m then who is to say Fermin wouldn't do similar for example.

Environments, timing, opportunity and openings make the success. I'd say the best thing to ever happen to Fermin was Xavi coming and getting involved in the Barcelona first team.

I was watching his highlights weekly at Linares and he was great. But without Xavi he wasn't coming back, he was going to get sold to a lesser club (I think the rumours were someone in Bulgaria or Poland), so no one was going to give him this kind of opportunity.
