Anyway, the overall argument re Rashford against Grealish is that athleticism, mentality and technique all matter in football. But athleticism and mentality are not anything to do with being a natural footballer - they're skills that are transferable to many other fields. Football talent is unique to...well...playing football.
Rashford could be much more effective for a football team than Grealish because he's much more athletic - but that's totally different to who's the more naturally gifted footballer with the most affinity with a ball at their feet.
This is why so many fans subconsciously hate guys like Ronaldo, Bale, Haaland etc. And why loads drool over Ronaldinho, Messi, Hazard and call them 'geniuses'. Fans deep down still wanna see football geniuses who make the game beautiful to watch, not athletic freaks and mentally strong robots who destroy the aesthetic of the game and make it look like a spreadsheet exercise.
Most football fans are still romantics deep down. Thank fuck. That's why I got into the game and why I love (d) it. I don't love football because someone is faster or stronger than someone else.
