Look at the worst defensive performances last season and guess who was missing.

0-4 Bayern - Masch missing
0-3 Bayern - Masch missing
1-3 at home to Real Madrid - Masch missing
0-2 away to Milan Masch missing.

Thats fine you take out Mascherano for a big CB and you may be stronger at set pieces but you will decrease your possession of the ball and take out the player that is the best reader of the game defensively at the club.

Its not as simple as thinking the team would be much stronger as having taller players at set pieces.

Possession? What good is possession doing us against big teams these days? Even tata is thinking of mixing up our game and using counters and a plan b striker. And what is this arrogance that only barca cbs are good enough to play ball. You don't think Balanta can learn to be good on the ball? Why don't we use Xavi as a cb then?

And Masch a great reader of the game? Do you include positioning in the reading of the game? He's caught out of position against big teams far too often. Chelsea, Madrid etc.

And no I have no bias against Masch. Pique also has been woeful. Masch is good enough against la liga teams but not big teams. Move him to DM and get a new cb

Not saying he is a terrible player, , Just not a defender, and definitely not a Barca standard midfielder. . . He has never been known to be a great passer. So if he isn't a defender and is not a midfielder, why is he in the team. . We should probably sell and get a real CB. BTW, his error rate is way too high.

Not at all he is the best CB the team has just now.

He plays in a risky way and is asked to move into midfield to win ball early, that may lead to some errors but the postitives out weigh that.

Even the Chelsea one you blame him for he was right to come for it. He slipped when had won ball. Chelsea had one man forward against 3/4 Barcelona players.

Oh Balanta the latest flavour of the month amongst most of whom have barely ever seen him play.

His reading of the game is brilliant and by far the best defensively of any of the CB's. Just look at the Atletico Madrid games at the start of this season he was sweeping up every time behind three loose cannons.
