I think what many Barca fans are criticizing is not the veracity of his statements - no self respecting Barca fan would, considering the mountain of evidence that exist, argue against the idea that Madrid is consistently favored by referee decisions - but rather the timing of his statements.

The team is not performing well. We've lost key players since last season either through injury or leaving the club. Madrid themselves are hungry for revenge after losing in embarassing fashion last season. He himself is underperforming, possibly still carrying an injury.

Why put unnecessary pressure on yourself and the team by making those comments now, when you and everyone else knew this match at best would be a close call for us, and you are not even performing up to the standard.

In other words, why talk the talk, if you know you cannot walk the walk? Even if it's not your fault. We know you are a fantastic player and capable of it. But you are setting yourself up for embarrassment. It would have been nice if after those comments we smacked them around, but that was not going to happen so stirring a hornet's nest beforehand shows his youthful stupidity.

Saying Madrid cheats isn't putting pressure on yourself in my opinion, especially when the ref gave Madrid an interesting penalty and denied Barca again even after the statement, which shows that we're normalizing Madrid getting favors.

I think more people should talk about it, and not push down on Yamal for saying the obvious.

No problem with what he said, should have just said it after the game. They were already fired up after 4 straight humiliations. Providing them extra motivation by shittalking had no upside for us, especially when he knows that the team isn't at the best moment right now with all the injuries and half-fit players (including himself).

It only becomes extra motivation if the game is won. If Barca had won you would not have heard anything from Real players having failed despite being extra motivated.

All players are always extra motivated to win the clasico.

It's going to be good showcase of his maturity and character if he can learn from this and leaves the social media nonsense aimed at others to absolute minimum. It's not easy to admit you were wrong and change your attitude, so kudos to him if he can learn from this. I think it's a good sign he hasn't posted anything after the game despite many Real players baiting him.

I can't wait until our next game so this little drama quiets down and we can focus on more important things.
