10 - Lamine Yamal

He didn't shit his pants and ended up being one of the best ball distributer for us tonight. He showed some promise playing more in the center. I think his playmaking abilities are a bit wasted as a winger, especially right now when he isn't the most explosive and physically ready. In the future I really would like to see him more in the center distributing the ball.

Yamal is in his learning stage. Honeymoon stage is over. Teams know all he wants to do is 1v1 the LB. So they double him instantly.

They know he wants on his left but I mean that will never be allowed in big games unless he really does something special.

He needs to shut up going forwards.

I don't think it's really too much about his attitude but more that he needs to learn to affect the game in different ways.

There will be times any winger can struggle with their marker for whatever reason, or have less of the ball, have less space to operate with the ball etc, that is where off ball movement, one touch play etc matters a lot.

Not only a stinker on the pitch, which we would maybe excuse given his last season but he yaps like a complete imbecile.

Got bodied today. Needs to severely improve his game. Defenses watched tape of him all summer.

Told you guys there were bad signs. Kid lacks good upbringing and role-models.
Acts and posts fake gangsta shit and talks too much. Too many distractions in his life.

It's still way too early in his career to turn out either way. Entirely up to him as it seems he's not the type to listen to anyone.
Chances are very slim that he'll change his personality.

He is a gansta kid from a poor family.

I wrote once that he'll be finished by the age of 26-27 due to his personality.
But how things are developing, he'll turn into a non-factor by the age of 23.

I can't think of any top player in the last 20 years who was as annoying to everyone as him.
Except Neyclown, of course.

But even Neymar was more humble than Yamal at the age of 18.

About the opponents figuring him out.

That happens to all youngsters.

1. at first they don't know you and you can create havoc on every match
2. after some time, the opponents figure out a majority of your moves and neutralize you
3. then you need to evolve your game.
Some players evolve, some disappear.

Yamal is currently in the phase no2.

I don't care if he never changes his personality. He can be as brazen as he wants to be when he has his vacations as long as he plays well, is focused and isn't always in the media spotlight.

And the club, especially Laporta being the leader of the club should be able to put the foot down and tell him and the rest of the team to shut the fuck up and go back to focusing when they perform like that.

He is not as good as he believes. That's the real issue.

Some of the world's best players were cocky. But they had something in their personality to be the real deal.

You have to be self critical. If you're not, your ego will spoil it all. Ego + self-critical attitude is road to success. Self-criticism is what turns ego into confidence.
