1 - Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Barcelona hope that ter Stegen will reconsider the situation. Joan Laporta is upset but they believe he will end up reconsidering when he realizes the consequences. They club sees harm to the whole entity and his teammates and are opening a disciplinary file against the keeper. ter Stegen had not even waited for the scheduled meeting with the club to refuse to sign, but Barca continue to hope to reach a common ground and maintain the scheduled meeting with him.

Barcelona believe that legally there will be grounds to ultimately submit the medical report to La Liga regardless of ter Stegen signing it.

Ter Stegen is the embodiment of this legendary quote by Harvey Dent (Two-Face) from Batman.

"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain"

I don't know if he really thought this through to go to war against the club. It might feel good for him to be defiant now, feeling insulted in his honor for being publicly degraded to the third goalkeeper. But does he realize the consequences of his actions?

The press in Spain is not merciful. Laporta will allow them to tear him to shreds from this point onwards, paint him as the biggest betrayer since Figo. His easy and calm life in Barcelona will be over. The same way the people lift you on the streets if they love you, will kick you down when they start to hate you. Especially because his children are in the city as well.
The club can publicly degrade him further. Take way his captaincy is only the first step. They can forbid him to train with the team, to foce him to train with Barca Atletic. If he refuses, fine him.

The players that support him, will stop doing so, once they realize he actively harms the registration of their new teammate for the only reason of being salty.

And then let's not forget how he ended the last season as captain. Didn't travel with the team to Milan as the only player, again for being salty. Refused the traditional season-end speech, which is a spit in the fan's face and rumours were, some journalists wrote kindly about him, because he/his camp feeded them with intern information.

He should really think this through, if it's worth for him to become a public enemy of the club just to feel cocky 2 weeks, until Laporta finds a way to register Garcia anyways.

Not exactly fixing to redeem his favour with the fanbase, is he? :ROFLMAO:

My guess is Flick flat out told him he is done, and his ego can't take it. Hence the issues. But the real issue is that he's not good enough to draw the interest of good clubs.

Very similar to Umtiti case for me. Except Stegen's ego is huge by comparison.

Don Juan Laporta Estruch

Basta yaaaaaaa, Cabron ! y Bona nit 🥂
Someone needs to give Tebas a call and ask him how his draconian FFP rules are ' protecting and empowering Spanish clubs '.

As always, they exist as nothing more but to massage his ego, and to send the odd present to his side chick Real Madrid.

Farcical situation that makes the club, the league and the player look like a joke.

Nobody is a winner from this.

Yeah, and once he is done there is really no way to feed his ego but go against the club.

He doesn't have much options. I can understand revenge personally. Productive revenge would be going at some other club and prove he is a good keeper. That's not possible because of lack of offers. Nobody good wants Stegen. Distructive revenge is what's left. "If I go down, I will make it hard for you also", type of thing.

Fair game. Can't say I'm surprised by how things evolved.

Contract is the key in this situation, as there is no good will between the parties. Whatever can be done to push him out legally needs to be done. If we can legally send him to train with the reserves, we need to do it. Stegen will have to be a pro and swallow his ego for 3 full years to get paid.

Any acts of undiscipline need be followed by fines and if possible contract being terminated.

If Stegen behaves... then he will get paid, we forget he exists, and move on.

We need to be careful not to breach his contract and his rights. Beyond that, everything is on the table.
