As much as I wanted Mats out, signing Joan while we still have him under current and renewed Tek.
Wasn't the smartest thing in the world for a club that's operating on the edge with registrations.
In a world where we don't need to move players to register others it would be cool, but all our players and their agents know out situation, which is why moving players on his so difficult and everyone wants the house before the fucking league.
Which is why I respect pique and Xavi, the only two to leave any money on the table.
Yeah, but on the other hand if we had waited for Stegen to move out then Joan may have moved elsewhere. While Stegen would be even more inclined to wait it if the signing relied on his exit.
So all in all getting Joan early was good for those reasons. To show that we have a new number one and that Stegen will not play if he stays.
FFP wise from what I understand, we are inside 1:1 with the signing of Joan, but for Nico need exits. So that's where the issue of the 3/4 goalkeepers comes into play. IIRC we need about 30m for Nico. Not much for a normal market operating club or if we were inside the PL.
Anyways, Tek's contract expires in a few days. So if we don't renew him before that, then signing him as a free agent will negatively affect our FFP more than if we renew him from an existing contract. Personally we don't really need to keep Tek and going with Joan/MaTS wouldn't be the worst situation and won't be the huge FFP hit as the papers claim.
As said otherwise, the bigger problem than FFP would be whether Stegs can sit tight on the bench and not pressure Joan through his media connections. If they fear this sporting and character issue, then just hurry up and confirm Teks renewal.
