1 - Marc-Andre ter Stegen

[Tony Tapalovic whose CV states him as a former goalkeeping coach for 12 long years at Bayern Munich, came to Barça, after his presence was personally insisted by Hansi Flick. This happened, despite the presence of José Ramón de la Fuente, Barça's goalkeeping coach.

Ter Stegen shares a personal bond with Dela, just like Manuel Neuer had shared a personal bond with Tapalovic at Bayern.

Ter Stegen and Neuer share a tortuous relationship as both had competed for German No.1 position. Rumours may point finger towards Tapalovic as the shadowy architect of the sudden decision of the club to move on to a newer GK, thus in this case the interest for Joan Garcia.]

Does he have some form of deferred salary situation like Lenglet?

If not what's all this talk about money, if he leaves this summer, their is no money left on table conversation to be had.

We paid you while you were our player, you're leaving now, your new employer will pay you.

I sure hope we haven't been barto'd with him as well.

He has deferred some money.

He can stay three more years and get his money though. As the backup or third choice GK.

Or he can find a new club this year or next year depending on the plan with Joan Garcia. It's up to him.

He had two great seasons, no one is denying that. Is that a great return in more than a decade? For me no. We are not losing a legendary keeper here. Time to move on. Heck, Garcia had a best in the League season already... 1 in 1
Bravo had a best in league season as well.

ter Stegen has had two great La Liga seasons.

2018/19 and 2022/23.

What's the excuse the other seasons? Injuries? Even bigger reason to get rid of him if he cannot stay healthy and need 1-2 years to get back to form all the time.

He can either stay and fulfill whatever role the club assigns, or choose to leave if he’s not satisfied with that.
Yes, that's the normal way and not the point I'm making. It would be perfectly fine if it went that way.
I specifically said if the current mobbing from most barca affiliated journalists is club driven to turn the fans against him and so push him out of the club, the same way Laporta tried with Frenkie.

News like "He won't make it easy to leave", or "Tapalovic, Flick's assistant and best friend of Neuer, turns against him", "MAtS is frustrated", "He has two choices, to leave or never play again", "the club guarantees Garcia a starting spot". These are agitating news first of all to gather klicks and likes, second of all it makes MAtS situation very uncomfortable.
The club did the same with Frenkie, to force him to leave this way and save up his salary. It was disgusting and thankfully Frenkie didn't give in. For now, we have no evidence if the journalists just exploit the SM narrative, or Laporta gave the okay, so let's wait and see how this will go further.

The club is definitely playing the media game, but as we've seen over the years ter Stegen and/or his agent have close connections within the local media as well. How those relationships were cultivated I don't know. Don't want to speculate much.

I do agree though. Deco and Flick need to sit down with ter Stegen as soon as possible and lay down their plans to him and be transparent about what they want. Then the rest is up to him.

So you and other nupties in here are just speculating on speculations.

Whatever keeps you awake at night I guess.

Weird one.

I know for sure the possibility of us signing another GK and ter Stegen being the backup or leaving is keeping you up at night though. If you get sleepy maybe we can have Messi kicks some footballs at your face as well as he did to Marc :messi:
