It was not just about the goals. He misplaced passes and held on to the ball for too long before deciding to kick it far anyway. Between that and players like Busquets also screwing up passes, you don't feel safe at all anymore watching them play it out from the back.

Most of his assists are just finding Messi, which he does do very well, and Messi then scoring from angles or positions which pretty much only he can do in the team. It works most of the time, but there are games where Messi doesn't play well, or doesn't play at all. It would be nice to see...

He has no impact as a sub seemed pretty clear from his previous games. Seemed like Lucho just wanted to continue the same way with some fresh legs and thought we'd score soon.

Good game. Even without forcing the cards, he would've been in my top 3 today.

Why sub in Paco, and so late as well.. After the first or second red it would've been perfect to play Arda or Rafinha, who both have been much better finishers and creators than Paco.

Cut him some slack, hands are only for second-rate goalkeepers.

Good second half, mediocre first. Imo he is very good when ahead, even if it's just by one goal, but he struggles to create something against parked busses and sort of dissapears if the rest of the midfield doesn't play well enough. If he plays in bigger matches it should only be with Iniesta...

Seems kind of hard to react to as well. Didn't have much to do, but liked his decisiveness in the second half when he ran outside the box to clear the ball.

Yep it's nice to see. Hopefully with Iniesta back and his new contract he'll be back to full soon.

In 10-15 years, that's exactly when people will care about it. In the future the debate between Messi and Ronaldo will be based on number of Ballons, stats and highlight reels in which the brilliance of Messi isn't fully shown.

Positioning and movement is better than before, but passing and finishing leave something to be desired. And he should stop volleying every chance he gets..
