    7 - Philippe Coutinho - V1

Who is saying he will leave in England?

    José Mourinho

They've easily looked the best team so far this season. Matic is the key. They've dominated everyone they've played so far, though that hasn't been anyone special.

    Manchester City

Yeah, he's sacrificing wingplay from Sane and Sterling to get Aguero and Jesus on the pitch together.

Just because he'd rather be playing for Barcelona that doesn't make him an unhappy player that will be detrimental to the team. I'm sure lots of players would rather be playing for Barcelona than staying where they are.

    7 - Philippe Coutinho - V1

There seems to be a mentality in Spain (or at least the Spanish press) that once the buying club and the player agree then that's basically a done deal. Barca probably just feel like they're in a position of power when in reality Liverpool hold all the cards. Coutinho is not going to down tools...

Kyle Walker-Peters looks like a decent replacement for Kyle Walker for Spurs.

    Premier League 2017/18

Matic sold, Chalobah sold, Loftus-Cheek loaned out, Bakayoko is still injured, Fabregas suspended. Chelsea's midfield starting to look a bit bare.

Which means long term they should probably sell, but after the season has started when they have no replacement? That makes no sense to me.

Have you ever seen a top player not perform just because they didn't get the transfer they wanted?

    7 - Philippe Coutinho - V1

The situations are not comparable. They knew Torres was a declining player that they thought they had a replacement for, and even then it took a British transfer record to get it done. How can letting Coutinho leave now possibly help Liverpool? They're never going to be able to get anyone in in...

    7 - Philippe Coutinho - V1

How so? It's not like he's going to down tools. Nothing has really changed except the optics of the situation.

    It's a World Cup year.

    7 - Philippe Coutinho - V1

This is just trivia. You need to offer something that's worth as much or more to Liverpool than Coutinho is. At this stage in the season with no obvious replacement, that should obviously be a lot.

    11 - Ousmane Dembélé - V1

Even for a 20 year old I don't think what you see in that video is particularly impressive. I can understand why someone would be underwhelmed.

    7 - Philippe Coutinho - V1

I never said anything about him wanting to stay.

    7 - Philippe Coutinho - V1

He does want to play though, he's shown absolutely no sign that he doesn't - plus it's a World Cup year. Aside from the owners cashing in, Liverpool have no reason to sell.

    You've just sold a player for $220m...

I don't see the incentive for Liverpool so sell this late in the window. At the very least they should either be pushing for stupid money ($150m+) or for Coutinho to commit to at least another year.
