    David Luiz: Yay or Nay?

Vertonghen can score from set pieces as well, he's a great and reliable defender, his passing is also great, and he's versatile if necessary. He has all the technical qualities to play for Barca along with great positioning and aerial ability. Luiz has the technical qualities, but defensively he...

    David Luiz: Yay or Nay?

Definitely have to buy someone, but why does it have to be that they are 40m+ price tags to be considered "world class" or "barca worthy" defenders? Scout some people, find a consistent and reliable player that would fit. Just because someone plays at a lower table club doesn't mean they are...

    David Luiz: Yay or Nay?

You don't pay 40m for a player just because his issues won't be that big of a problem and he can score from set pieces. You want a signing to bring a lot of positive addition, not just be protected enough to not subtract from the team.

    David Luiz: Yay or Nay?

Ivanovic isn't reliable either, but Luiz is definitely not a secure defender (yet). On the ball abilities don't mean much if you can't defend well as a CB (Pique) and while yes he can bomb forward well or score from set pieces, we shouldn't pay 40m for a defender who's positioning is off and...

    Pedro Rodriguez

Pedro is much quicker mentally and has extremely underrated technical ability, his footwork is insanely fast and tricky. Alexis has better movement though, along with linkup. You'll see Pedro bury his chances more often than Alexis, but Alexis will get a lot more of them. They have their own...

    David Luiz: Yay or Nay?

No. 1) Far too expensive, all the indications of a panic signing which make us pay through the roof for a defender that likely won't have that good of an output 2) Very error prone and wanders way too much, not to mention recklessness and obsession with being an attacking player. He's best as...

    Frank Bagnack

Doesn't always have to end up the same way. Bagnack obviously has caught the eye of Tata and will get some games and train a lot with the first team. Sure we thought guys like Bartra, Gomez, and Muniesa would make it and they ended up not being as good as we thought they'd be, but circumstances...

Transfers and Rumours - old thread

If we really don't buy a CB we could scrape by if we play: Bagnack- relegation zone games Bartra- lower to high mid table games Masch- spread around playing time and some bigger games Puyol- big games and occasional small games Pique- most games, periodical rest Switch it around a little and...

    Gerard Deulofeu

Ah damn I missed the game, how'd he do in attack if he was miserable defensively?

    Gerardo "Tata" Martino

    1) We face parked buses either way, we saw it even last year when we had little intensity. The only difference is that with no intensity in pressing/attacking we didn't even fight back and couldn't do anything. 2)Tata will rotate a lot with younger players and dial down the intensity of our play...

    State of La Liga

Better TV rights would help even it out on the behalf of the league, but the clubs need personal marketing to fund their own success or nothing will get better for them. No truly successful club relies on the amount of shares they get from league TV rights to be financially successful, they need...

    Gerardo "Tata" Martino

Yes, but as we saw in the Santos game both fullbacks showed more restraint in attack and bombed up when the time was right instead of lingering up there without use. Both were deadlier in attack and more prepared in defense.

    Thiago Translantara

That whole "testing his commitment" thing is completely stupid, they wouldn't take a risk like that and if they did they wouldn't pile on top of it more by making indifferent statements to him or leaving the door open for him to walk out. Do you really expect any player to act too differently in...

    Thiago Translantara

It's not just about playing time. Even then, Pep has actually done a lot to include Thiago both at Barca and Bayern despite your supposed point that Cesc/Gotze freeze him out. Granted, he made those transfers, but really what difference does it make as he paid a lot of attention to Thiago...

    Gerard Deulofeu

Jese is by far the better player currently. Deulofeu has the higher potential I'd say, but many more personal obstacles to overcome.

    Thiago Translantara

I agree that Barca is not at all comparable to a company, but why is the sentimental aspect of it only applicable to the player? If a player is considered "dead weight" to the club, then most people are extremely quick to want him out and couldn't care less citing the reason that "Barca isn't a...
