Wonder what Pep will answer when he gets the "Who's better, Messi or Ronaldo?" question. He has made his opinion on Messi clear in the past, but maybe he'll start delivering more word salads to avoid giving an answer and to protect Cristi's fragile ego.

La Liga | Round 2: Athletic Bilbao - FC Barcelona

Messi is finally gone. He was the reason Barca played without a real RW and caused an imbalance to the formation. It was so great watching Barca finally play with a right winger. Oh wait....

    24 - Eric García

    Unnecessary low blow.
  4. S

    Ronald Koeman

Exactly. The team has no real bench. Last season a bunch of fans said that he makes terrible subs. Who was Koeman supposed to bring on from the bench? The legendary football prodigy, Puig?

    Ronald Koeman

This team has needed significant restructuring in key positions for some time. Koeman has hardly been given any marquee signings. Depay on a free transfer, and then a bunch of unproven youngsters or washed up has beens.

    24 - Eric García

Tired of seeing the spine of Barca's defense for the past few years be Busquets plus 1 or 2 slow CBs. And the occasional Roberto at RB. Busi must go and the CB spots are both question marks long term.

    Ronald Koeman

Doing a solid job. He has been put in the toughest position since atleast the last Dutch manager.
  8. S

    Frenkie de Jong

He is levels above the rest of his teammates. Shows great poise.
  9. S

    Sergio Busquets

He might have one of the great minds of his generation for playing the DM position, but, he is too past it physically. At best he should be a bench player that comes on against teams that aren't too physically dominating.

    24 - Eric García

Its one thing to get beat for speed, its another thing to be a weakling that couldn't grab and pull back Williams. Having to make a stupid lunging dive just outside the box was not good. Should've just pulled him down earlier

    Antoine Griezmann

Terrible. Just terrible. He hasn't shown anything at all the first 2 games of the season that suggests that he will turn around his status as a flop.

    Mavericky Puig

In all likelihood Puig probably isn't as good as some of his supporters make him out to be and he probably didn't impress Koeman in training. That being said, there were several games last season where Barca had a comfortable lead late in the 2nd half that could've seen Puig come on for Pedri(...

    Martin Braithwaite

Hardworker and good to see his effort pay off by getting on the scoresheet. A somewhat limited player at this level, but can't deny that he puts in the work on the pitch.

    Memphis Depay

    Great debut. Very dynamic player.
  15. S

    Antoine Griezmann

Was involved in a few good plays here and there, but invisible for large parts of the game.

    Junior Firpo

Like the club, the forum might be broke too. Not enough money to move this thread and register it to the other players section.

    Philippe Coutinho

Liverpool fans are always clowning on Coutinho for forcing a move to Barca. But since moving from Liverpool he has won 3 league titles, 3 league cups, a Champions League, Copa America, got paid more, and doesn't have to live in Liverpool. We can debate his contributions to those trophies, but...

    Joan Laporta

The midfield depth looks suspect on paper. Wasn't good last season either. Needing to hope players stay healthy and young guys step up. Plus not having the new signings registered. It is what it is with the cards that Laporta was dealt, but he has been underwhelming so far in his presidency...

    Antoine Griezmann

Messi has choked plenty too. 2014 World Cup Final 1v1 against Neuer. 2012 penalty shot against Chelsea. Copa America 2016. Failing on a golden chance to end the hopes of a rival/win a trophy/end a drought is a choke. But agree that every big attacking player has choked in history.

    Philippe Coutinho

Well, I sure hope so, but my feeling is that a lot of fans are just feeling apathetic after the Messi departure.
