Transfers and Rumours - old thread

For what its worth, Ballague on Revista said that if Barca gets Hummels, Amorebieta would then go to Dortmund, also Shalke were mentioned. There was also talk of Fulham in the EPL. Amorebieta himself talked about the EPL

Transfers and Rumours - old thread

Amorebieta - Free in the summer. Would give the team experience, height and some bite (okay, hes prone to the odd red card) Martinez - a young, powerful CB that would be in our team for years to come. Getting Amorbieta free and Martinez for a reasonable fee would leave more than enough money...

Which CB would you sign for Barça?

True, especially in Amorebieta's case, but he'd come for nothing as he's out of contract in the summer (at least i think he is). Martinez only has 7 yellows this season - not too naughty. As Barca play a different style of football, perhaps the discipline wont be a problem. Whatever, if we...

Which CB would you sign for Barça?

I think ive came round to the idea of Martinez and Amorebieta. Amorebieta is older at 28, and maybe more experienced, and he's 1.92metres, but hes powerful and a good header of the ball. Martinez is only 21 (the same age roughly as Bartra/Muniesa but with 1st team experience) and 1.81metres...

    Marc Bartra

I have to agree with this. More especially if the youngster plays in a wide position. if we play a youth at RB eg., then there are 10 first team players on the park - which should be good enough to beat most teams. I'm not advocating 3/4 young players...perhaps 1, then blood another if its 2 or...

    Eric Abidal

After a battle, i think it was Agincourt, the french said that they would cut off the first 2 fingers of the hand of the english archers - the fingers which held the arrows and pulled the bow-strings. The english would hold up/ gesticulate in the air with the 2 fingers to show that they had not...

Read post #173 above, Gannicus. I had a complaint, but ive been on boards before that were brutal: swearing, mega-sarcasm, effing and jeffing everywhere, even telling ppl what part of the ground to meet for fisticuffs...we dont want that here. XaviMessiGirls tells it like it is. Anyhoo, lets...

    Jose Mourinho

Isn't it typical of the arrogance of Mourinho. It presupposes that Ancelotti's team who will watch barca, and Ancelotti himself cannot spot weaknesses for themselves to enable them to work out tactics, IMO.

I agree totally, Jenks; but we just know that between this level and the full NT, a lot of these players will have to compete at clubs who will bring in players from abraod rather than use some talented youngsters. This ensures that the strides made at u-21 level are not carried on into the...

    England

Ive noticed that as well. Ive had some deleted for calling someone an idiot...I mean, perhaps i shouldnt, but 'idiot' isnt the worst you could say about anyone. They seem to want to sanitise this board so much. We dont want 'f-ing and c-ing' here there and everywhere, but sometimes...

    9 - Luis Suárez - v1

Weeeeeeell, looks like i'm in the minority of one, so majority rules. (By the way, i'da done the same as Luis if it meant my team progressing to the SF.

...and wouldnt it be a bugger if we sold Sanchez and he went on to become a fantastic asset/world beater for his next club.

Just general...not Luis or anyone Ive seen ex-pro commentators go on about it as if they agree that in situations its quite acceptible. is it ever?

    9 - Luis Suárez - v1

No, it isnt, what it is is an irrefutable, logical argument over the use of the word 'cheat', which is easily defined. What was done comes within the boundaries of that definition of that word, and you cannot quite accept that; which is why you resort to the passive aggressive '...not a...

    9 - Luis Suárez - v1

There's a lot at it Kerrybai. i still think Luis Suarez should be players player AND sportswriters player of the year though, and not Gareth Bale; he really is a talented, sublimely gifted player. I'd have him at Barca in a heartbeat; for footballing reasons.

    9 - Luis Suárez - v1

Yet, strangely, no-one can/will argue with: 'Cheat': Verb Act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, esp. in a game or examination. Noun A person who behaves dishonestly in order to gain an advantage. So, Suarez acted unfairly in order to gain an advantage: he stopped a...

    Arsenal

Thanks for this; great assessment IMO. What Wenger has done for Arsenal over the years especially with the move to the Emirates etc. has been quite extraordinary. I dont think that there are many managers that could consistantly keep Arsenal in the top 4 given the constraints put on him. Some...
