    Round of 16: Belgium - USA - Tuesday 01/07/2014

I expect this one to be close. Wilmots hasn't impressed me so far; Belgium is definitely not stronger than the sum of their parts. Klinsmann, on the other hand, did a fine job with the USA's team. Both teams appear to be very fit too. I expect Belgium to win, though, because the USA's center...

    Round of 16: France - Nigeria - Monday 30/06/2014

I heard Nigeria's players are complaining about bonuses again. They seem to self-destruct in a classically African fashion. I'd back France to win this: they have an obvious surplus of quality and they are more focused, it appears.

Round of 16: The Netherlands - Mexico - Sunday 29/06/2014

This might be close. I don't expect a lot of goals: it's 5-3-2 vs. 5-3-2, and those matches don't tend to be exciting. I expect us to win, though. Mexico is not better than Chile, in my opinion, and we won against Chile, although Chile had to leave gaps at the back in the later stages of the game.

Group B: Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia

If we played 4-3-3 against Chile and/or Spain we probably would've lost. We're not capable of building up from the back the way we used to. Our only chance of winning is playing the way we do now: pragmatic rather than beautiful. Of course I'd prefer us playing in a more beautiful way, but I'd...

    Germany

I don't think Germany have the required fitness levels to win it in these climatical circumstances.

Group B: Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia

Unbelievable result. When Alonso scored that penalty, I thought we were done for. If Spain had used more runners, we could've been humiliated instead. Van Gaal outsmarted Del Bosque, and showed Chile the pattern to follow. I'd drop Xavi for Pedro if I were VDB.

    Liverpool

I can see the logic in buying Lambert. Last year, when other teams dropped deep against Liverpool, they looked sorta clueless. Now, they have a plan B for a fair price against those teams.

    Netherlands

Van der Vaart will miss the World Cup as well.....I would've picked him, but Wijnaldum's a good alternative. Wijnaldum is far more energetic, but VDV's set piece and longshot ability could've come in handy

^I heard they spelled the Greek one wrong though....oh well

After signing ter Stegen, would you sign another GK, or trust Masip as 2nd gk?

I wouldn't like the idea of having two inexperienced keepers in the squad. I'd like to sign an experienced back-up, just in case. To be honest, I don't know Masip well, so maybe I'm too cautious.

Man of the Match 13/14 edition

    Masch Piqué Alexis

    Netherlands

We've got a very inexperienced backline.....I still rate us higher than Chile, though. We've got a more clinical team, I guess, and an excellent coach.

    Belgium

I think Belgium selected too many defenders. Apart from that, it's a good squad. The lack of proper fullbacks will be their downfall against the better teams, I guess.

    France

Nasri is the French Seedorf. He's the scapegoat for the national coaches.

    England

Carrick and Cole would've been useful. Carrick is arguably the closest thing England have in terms of a proper defensive midfielder. Against smart teams, England will have to be very disciplined in order to minimize space between the lines. Fielding Gerrard as a CDM would not be ideal when...

    Netherlands

Interestingly enough, Louis van Gaal considers playing 5-3-2 with the Dutch team in the World Cup. I guess it would look like this, more or less: ------------------------------------------------Cillessen---------------------------------------------------------------...

    England

Is Shaw really that good? I assume he's just another overhyped English player? Anyway, I would've picked Cole.

    Germany

I think Germany will be too susceptible to counters, should they opt for a Kroos-Schweini double pivot. Schweini's no Busi....Great team though, overall.

    Yaya Toure

Cesc's not agile, Xavi was....that's more of a problem for him. Xavi was able to bypass pressing, Cesc can't do that. I would've loved Modric in Blaugrana.......that's never gonna happen, sadly
