    The team had several chances to score goals and Real played better in the first half. On top of that there is the atrocious defending on the set piece. Arda is a moron for fouling, but you can't say the loss is only on him and Lucho just because it happened in the dying minutes.

    I don't know, it could work. Perhaps Denis will work well as a sub in games where Busquets gets shot down.

    This is just the type of player Arda is. He's not good defensively and can make stupid fouls under high pressure. We've seen it before and it's Lucho's fault for not recognizing it and subbing him in.

    If Arda isn't going to play, I would like to see Rafinha have a go at LW. He could be a solid forward substitute and would get more playing time that way.

In terms of passing, he did a lot of passes towards Denis as well, but you could see he was looking for a pass towards the box many times he got the ball, but there were no options.     From what you would expect of him, I agree he was dissapointing, and his attitude wasn't good. But he didn't fuck up passes and distributed the ball better than the rest. Just my opinion.

    Thought he was the best of the bunch, not that it says much. Hard for him and Rafinha to create something. You see several times they are ready to make a pass, but are forced to play it backwards because there is no movement inside the box.

    Half the games he started he has been completely invisible, and was one of the worst on the pitch against Granada of all opponents. Why is he a sure starter over Gomes? He has some qualities the others lack, but what good is that with so much inconsistency.

    I base it solely on Gomes' current run of good games since City and of the possibility that he continues playing well. If you look at the entire time he's been here, then yes there is no consistency.

    Maybe so, but Rafinha hasn't been tested properly against a pressing opposition. I'm not convinced at all until he does well in such a game, but he's been better right now in midfield than Arda and Denis for sure.

    But this is only one game. Rafinha is horrible defensively and would not have been any better here. And while you could simply call Denis inconsistent before, he is leaning increasingly towards consistently shit. If Gomes plays like this once in a while, but puts up good performances otherwise...
