    Serge Aurier

I thought Van der Wiel did a decent job at PSG last season, so it's a shame he'd probably be benched in favour of Aurier. Bad news for the Dutch NT too, maybe.

    Toni Kroos

He would've been perfect for us, it's a shame he'll probably join Real. 25 million is an absolute steal.

    9 - Luis Suárez - v1

The Uruguay NT probably doesn't. National teams rarely do. I don't know about Barça, but I hope we do.

    9 - Luis Suárez - v1

I think it had more to do with the fact that Liverpool uses a psychiatrist to help him and other players. Do you really believe that Uruguay could've prevented this simply by threathening with punishment? I don't buy it.

    Arjen Robben

In this form and level of fitness, Pep would be foolish to sell Robben. He's probably Bayern's most dangerous player.

    3rd place match: Brasil - Netherlands 0-3

Blind stepped in foolishly. The ref could've easily given the penalty. He probably should have done so.

    9 - Luis Suárez - v1

I don't think the threat of additional punishment will stop him from biting. I think the biting is more of a stress-reliever, a way of coping with high pressure and irritation. I believe that, if one truly wants Suarez to stop, one should try to find out the (psychological) mechanism that leads...

    9 - Luis Suárez - v1

Neymar, Suarez and Messi don't have to defend in their national teams. I fear they wouldn't be up to the task of heavy pressing again, which we will probably need in order to beat the top teams in Europe, since we can't drop deep because our defenders don't exactly shine in those situations...

    9 - Luis Suárez - v1

Suarez did play on the wing for Ajax, I know, but more as a false winger of sorts. He had a free role, basically. His best performances, though, have been when he was fielded in central positions. He might be able to play as a winger, but that wouldn't get the best out of him, I believe. If he...

    9 - Luis Suárez - v1

^ Well, I hope so, but I'm sceptical. All our quality up front might just make opposite teams so scared that they drop very deep. The teams you put together - likely to be the ones Lucho would consider, more or less - would not be well-suited against parked buses imo. Despite all the qualities...

    2014 World Cup General Chat

Agreed. I like Depay, but he only impressed against bloody Australia, with all respect. I'd pick Pogba out of those.

    9 - Luis Suárez - v1

Spending so much money on a player we don't really need......we might as well call ourselves Real Barcelona now. He won't help us break down parked buses, because Suárez is very space-dependant. I can easily see smart teams forcing us to put in an endless stream of crosses to our small forwards...

    Semifinal: Netherlands - Argentina 0-0 (2-4 pk)

I don't think we made bone-crunching tackles or anything like that. Just a lot of minimal fouls. I wouldn't call that nasty personally. And the only intimidation, arguably, that I can think of is Krul's mind games against Costa Rica, and maybe Martins Indi against Diego Costa.

    Alexis Sanchez

It's a real shame we sold him. Farewell, jugadorazo!

    Netherlands

I'm already looking forward to EURO 2016. We might be a contender then as well. With Strootman hopefully not out again, we could have a very solid midfield. I just hope Robben and the other veterans won't decline rapidly......

Final: Germany - Argentina 1-0(ET) - Germany are WC Champions for the 4th time

I expect this to be a tough one for Germany, since they thrive on space and Argentina won't concede any. But Germany should be able to win this. Germany would arguably have been a better opponent for us than Argentina yesterday. Germany plays a high line, and our best match came against such a...

    3rd place match: Brasil - Netherlands 0-3

I don't think any player is looking forward to this match......3rd price would be a slight consolation maybe, but I don't really care about this one. I expect Brazil to be more motivated, obviously, but it's hard to recover, I suspect, from such a devastating loss in a couple of days.
  18. Jesse1509

    Arjen Robben

Well, it's not a reliable source at least. He could've said those things, but I don't trust that site. This is, in summary, what he said in the Dutch press, to reliable sources: "We should be proud of what we achieved. It hurts a lot now, yet I still feel proud of what WE achieved. "We...

    14 - Javier Mascherano

He was immense yesterday. MOTM for me, together with 'Concrete' Ron Vlaar. He's so much better as a CDM than as a CD imo.

    Semifinal: Netherlands - Argentina 0-0 (2-4 pk)

I agree. The game was a bit of a stalemate, but I think Argentina were slightly better. And I think Argentina will actually be an easier opponent for Germany, even though they were slightly better than us yesterday, because LVG has more different attacking options imo. The Argentina forwards and...
