    Daniel Alves

It's like when we lost to Liverpool and people thought it was because we made nervous mistakes on the ball. Liverpool made mistakes as well. The difference is that they were playing to win and we were playing to avoid making mistakes.

    Daniel Alves

What Dani brings is pretty obvious to me. He was the one player on the field yesterday who seemed like he had his eyes on winning. He saw what we needed to do and took the responsibility of trying to work our game towards that. You can have 11 players on the field who all "play well" and still...

    Sergio Busquets

Once again, the big picture is that he has about 15% of the movement that you would require for a DM in order to play dominant possession based football. He just simply doesn't move for the ball and everybody just seems content with it. He'd play 10 minutes for a serious coach and be thrown out...

    Mavericky Puig

The choice is between Puig playing the right game wrongly or Gavi/Nico playing the wrong game rightly.

    Xavi Hernández

Age is hardly the real issue. Nico and Gavi both way too passive all game as well. Everyone sort of just perform their duties when their turn comes, then go back to idling. Generally just a complete void of responsibility and courage. It's still an entrenched issue. One player can't make a...

    Ferran Jutgla

He was fine. Made the deep run that drew their centre backs' concentration away from Luuk when he scored. The sort of small things that can make the difference in the end. Things we don't show an awful lot of interest in doing.

    6 - Gavi

sort of true, can't say I would been able to take much pleasure in a victory tonight anyway.

La Liga | Round 20: Granada - FC Barcelona 1-1

Can't say we deserved to lose cuz they were terrible as well but we certainly didn't deserve to win. Absolutely no desire to do anything but the bare minimum in this team. Several silver platter opportunities to close the game when it was 1-0 and absolutely no enthusiasm in how we took them any...

La Liga | Round 20: Granada - FC Barcelona 1-1

this passivity gets at what lies benath our mentality issues tho. our energy comes mostly form fear of losing, not from desire to win. if a team doesn't press us, we're not terribly eager to change the status quo. we don't have the confidence to impose our own tempo.

La Liga | Round 20: Granada - FC Barcelona 1-1

Way too much standing still all over the place. Top teams will have 4 or 5 players moving around for the ball in general play. We have 1 maybe 2. In result, midfield non-existent. It's like we're afraid of being on top of the game, being proactive. Our players literally only run for the...

    Frenkie de Jong

I'd keep him. He's a clever player. He'll soon find his feet again. He had great chemistry with Ansu so his return might help some.

    Mavericky Puig

Like, when I began my post with stating that he's "clearly not good enough"? There's a pretty simple proof that his running off the ball, while pretty erratic and not always effective, still helps out teammates. It's that he gets the ball often. Now, he might not always get the ball in a very...

    Mavericky Puig

you make 5 posts everytime he misplaces a pass mate, I wasn't exactly curious as to where you'd land on the issue.

    Mavericky Puig

Yeah he's clearly not good enough but I'm never going to be mad at the midfielder who does most and risks most to help out teammates under pressure. He doesn't get the ball more than others because he raises his hand more than others. He gets it because he's the best passing option more often...

    Xavi Hernández

What worries me are these sometimes subtle but noticable signs that we're hanging on to the old culture. Yesterday, after going 1-2 up we had a really good chance with Nico and Dembele, sort of a 2v2 if I recall correctly, perfect chance to close the game. Of course we execute half-heartedly...

    Mavericky Puig

I don't recognize these points at all. If your example at 0:24 is supposed to be some scintillating cystalization of his awfulness, I'm pretty sure it's evidence enough that you're very biased.

    Gerard Piqué

He's being more assertive, which is good. For years I've been yelling at him to square up with his man instead of backing off.
  18. BusiTheKing

    Mavericky Puig

Thought he was quite good. Solid short passing, positive movement, several clever turns to get out of trouble and turn the tide of the game. A few dumb mistakes and some positioning issues, yes. Also made 9 ball recoveries, most of anyone on there. Can hardly ask much more of someone who...

    Gerard Piqué

One thing that is laughable about his game, but that maybe gets lost in the circus of embarrassment, are his long balls. We're talking two out of three of his long balls being these high arch slow ass imprecise floaters that either get intercepted with ease or just sail over the touchline. The...

    7 - Ferran Torres

I've never understood this Ansu as a 9 thing. Everything he's shown suggests to me that he's better when allowed to orchestrate in a bit of space instead of having to wrestle and dart and explode. It's not like he has problems getting into finishing situations as a winger either.
