    Frenkie de Jong

Would be great. The fact that he is also so versatile is a huge bonus. Who doesnt want to have a player who can play CB, DM, CM and AM in their squad?

    Clément Lenglet

You are certainly overrating him. He's often a clusterf*** when it comes to these things. What's interesting is that both Umtiti and Lenglet are French, which can be good for communication which is crucial in that position. Both being left footers is a potential negative.

    Clément Lenglet

Yes, that is the reason. They have usually played left sided CB since a very young age and dont know anything else.
  4. J

    Clément Lenglet

Its not the same though. Right footed players are more comfortable playing both positions, which is usually not the case for left footed CBs.

    Mavericky Puig

Guardiola starting Phil Foden today against Chelsea in the Community Shield final. He's almost a year younger than Puig and did great, outperforming Jorginho, Cesc and Barkley...Hopefully Valverde doesnt let Puig rot away if he actually has the talent to succeed for us.

    Aleix Vidal

    This is a good sale.
  7. J

    Arthur

You clearly put him in your "schoolboy" category though, no point denying that. When you refuse to look at players individually, or even watch them play before judging you end up with stuff like that.

    Yerry Mina

I think thats an excuse. Vidal was just bought, he hasnt even been confirmed as signed. And he occupies a non-EU spot. So why wasnt Mina sold earlier? Did the other clubs know for weeks that we would sign another non-EU player? They dont even know whether we have signed him right now because he...

    Yerry Mina

I hope we dont loan him out. We need to be able to take advantage of his World Cup hype now.

    Clément Lenglet

I am talking about left footed duo. That must be very rare.

    Mavericky Puig

I am not convinced by that. We have 30 year olds Raki and Busi and players like Artur, Alena and others in midfield. Its all about whether the manager trust the youth or not. Previous managers did. Not because our team was so bad.

    Mavericky Puig

Supersub within a few seasons I think is too pessimistic considering he's 19 years old. Remember Xavi had 50 appearances for the first team before turning 20 and Iniesta had 25. I agree that his physique is a bit ridiculous (although he also benefits from it) but he should get plenty of chances...

    Clément Lenglet

I wonder if any team has played with two left footed CBs? Must be extremely rare.

    Arthur

His composure is a joy to watch. He's also a leader on and off the pitch and plays with maturity. I really hope we get De Jong to join up with him. We are getting starved of these types of midfielders who make the difficult look easy with Xavi and Iniesta gone and Busi ageing.

    Arturo Vidal

30m transfer fee and 17m a year wage for 3 years? Thats over 80m for a 31-year old with a serious knee injury who relies on a physical style of play. I see that Kicker from Germany says the same. Since he also occupies a non-EU spot, he must be an important part of the team in the years ahead.
  16. J

    Arturo Vidal

It does make sense to be prudent. The guy is 31 years old and coming off a serious knee injury and surgery. Would look silly if we were not somewhat cautious here.
  17. J

    Arturo Vidal

Frenkie would be a good addition because of his great intelligence and confidence on the field. He's playing like a mature leader out there, way beyond his years. Depending on his price, he would offer value in the market. Its not about "nice passes", thats just something you make up, putting...

Even the PSG manager said that Mbappe wanted to join Barca or RM. http://www.marca.com/en/football/international-football/2018/05/06/5aeef52122601d375a8b464b.html

    Paul Pogba

I think of Coutinho more as a Neymar replacement. He's very attacking. A Valverde 442 of Pogba, Busi, Raki and Coutinho in midfield could be interesting. Very much doubt we have the resources for that though.

    Arturo Vidal

The age balance is on the high end for us I'd say or at least its certainly not a bunch of 20 year olds we're playing. The spine is Messi, Suarez, Raki, Busi and Pique, all having turned 30. Realistically, some of those should be expected to decline sharply in the upcoming season. Age is far...
