Defenders have to be more rounded these days. Inevitably that means they aren't as good at defending. Most noticeable with fullbacks, but center backs are headed the same way.

Defending deep and cutting off passing lanes instead of pressing isn't parking the bus, it's just one way of defending. One that makes Xavi much less effective. Milan can't/won't park the bus ala Inter, because Inter were hanging onto a lead which Milan don't have.

Perhaps controversial but I don't think we'd miss Xavi that much. We have lots of good passers, and Milan will probably concentrate on defending space and cutting off the passes - something Xavi can't do much about. Iniesta and other players who can beat their man are more important imo.

The players looked tired and cranky because they were playing in a swamp. See Messi slipping or Alves kicking the turf. It's fecking annoying trying to run on a surface that you fear (rightly) will have you slipping around like Bambi. So you run slower and look lethargic. Not to mention even...

I think it has more to do with the fact that he's played hundreds of games as a forward, and a handful as a midfielder. Sad thing is he's still Argentina's best midfielder.

He's not totally effective when he has to mark and tackle, either. He's not a midfielder. Of course he's not as good a midfielder as Xavi, who ever said he was? He's a way better midfielder than Xavi is a forward, though.

So if we play the max 15 games, and Leo scores just 1 a game (seems easy for him..), he'll hit 70 goals. Feels weird typing that. He's so much better than anyone else it's hard to believe. Billy Beane might well be right that Messi is actually the most undervalued player in football.

Drogba has a few good games because Chelsea is built around him. He's still been totally crap most of the time - which has nothing to do with Torres as they rarely play together. And I'm sure as hell no Torres ballwasher. I've always considered him overrated, I agreed with Sid Lowe calling him...

Madrid favorites but not by much as their run in is tougher, and of course they are in much worse form right now. APOEL will surely lose, but they will make it difficult. They are organised and won't roll over. Madrid will have to work for it.

Hopefully they can turn things around with that. Really really hope they don't go down :(
