You're forgetting the fact that cesc was 16 and his departure wouldn't hurt the team while thiago was probably one season away from being a first team regular. Him leaving at the last minute hurts our plans, not the case with cesc.

Hopefully he will do well for you, he has la Masia principles but is also a fast and direct player, suited for English football. Hopefully he has a good attitude and develops well.

I think your new chairman and David Moyes are incompetent is the most likely scenario. Fergie would never have pursued this in the first place and if he did he wouldn't embarrass the club by making a transfer public unless it's a certainty.
